Since you have kids, then the big 3 would be the choice for you. We have stayed at Lakewood numerous times and really like it. We are going to try Ocean Lakes this spring. The other is Pirateland. We walked over to Pirateland and we didn't care for it too much. But if we couldn't get into Lakewood or OL, the nit would be our 3rd choice. You more than likely would not be able to get into Myrtle Beach State Park at this time for a spot in June. Plus you will be lacking the activities there.
Lakewood is owned by a christian family and they offer some christian activities for the kids if you are interested in that. During spring break they had a daily class for the kids that lasted a couple hours. My daughter loved it.
A vote for Lakewood. We've been going there for several years and will be back in 3 weeks. In the summer a good amount of activities for all ages, a couple of pools, large ocean beach, large shaded or full sun sites, friendly staff, and the list goes on.
Ocean lakes last July was awesome. Yes, busy but plenty of room for all. Hot, and lots of fun.
I think there are several that are nice.
At ocean lakes. Sites are mostly all the same. Just get as close as you can to the water. Remember, there are thousands of people here.
Everybody has their favorite MB campground. Ours is Myrtle Beach Travel Park. We have two boys, 13 and 16, and it's their pick, too.
But . . . if you're only now thinking about making reservations for June, you may have to go with whichever campground has space (if any of them do). The good news is that none of them, with the possible exception of Apache, are really bad.

It's Pirateland for us right now, we've booked 12 nights for this coming Easter. That being said, we're having a look at Myrtle Beach Travel Park while we're down there to see if it would better suit our needs/wants.
At Pirateland, you're not going to find sites that are both close to the ocean AND close to the pool and lazy river. Looking at the map for MBTP, looks like there are sites there that would be very close to both. Considering that we now vacation with my 70+YO mother, that may meet our needs better in the future. We do like the sites at Pirateland and have no idea how the MBTP sites compare as far as size is concerned, which is why we're going to have a look before we make any reservation for the future.
My vote is for Ocean Lakes, Pirateland, or Lakewood. In that order.
I disagree with TerryAllan about 'tiny sites' at Ocean Lakes. It IS true that *some* of their sites are small, but they also have many that are huge, with plenty of room. And, Ocean Lakes shows you on their web page, exactly the size (Length and Width) of each site, where trees and other obstructions are on the sites, AND lets you reserve a specific site, exactly the one you want. Soooo, with Ocean Lakes, you know exactly what site you're getting, and how much room you'll have on it. You won't get that much info about your campsite ANYWHERE else in Myrtle Beach.
Golf carts? LOL, I know Terry has a very strong opinion on that matter, but reality is that golf carts are bad at all of the big CGs there on south side of Myrtle Beach (Pirateland, Lakewood, and Ocean Lakes). Ocean Lakes security does just as much as the others to keep them under control (I've personally witnessed them taking carts away from violators). A lot of it has to do with the time of year you go. In the summer, all those campgrounds are very busy, and the golf cart traffic is much worse. Go in Spring or Fall like we do, its nowhere near as bad. We go there to Ocean Lakes for a week in April every year to 'kick off' the camping season, and its always great down there.
Only thing Pirateland has over Ocean Lakes, is the lazy river, and the shelters they put at each site. The shelters definitely are nice. The bad thing about Pirateland, is that almost all their sites back up right up against another site, so the back end of your camper in some cases may be just a foot or two away from the back of someone else's. Not much privacy there. That, and you may or may not get a site where your awning faces toward the ocean. You ALWAYS get that with Ocean Lakes, as all sites there face the ocean.
Lakewood is nice, too, we've stayed there a few times. Only thing I don't like about them is the $25 fee (IIRC) they started charging everyone when making a reservation there. None of the others do that.

However, Ocean lakes is a Class act ....FOR The Kids.
As far as Tiny Sights....Terry Allan has somewhat of a Point. BUT Ocean Lakes has been paving Sites every year so we like that.
We do go to Ocean lakes and I rent two sites the one we are on and the one in front.
You can see the ocean from your site if you pick the front sites which there are many.
Back to Terry Allans post.
We have been to most Camp Grounds and we only go from November thru April.
Terry has valid points on his reviews and for the most part I agree.....Just move Ocean lakes back up for the KIds.

I know where your coming from. However. My kids, and grand kids like PirateLand better. They really like the lazy river, and being able to play around the campsite with out worrying too much about traffic. they love to play in the sand just outside the door. Lots of planned activities for kids at PL.
Plus last year at OL. We left for a little while, and when we returned. Folks had parked Golf Carts on our site. Rather rude I'm thinkin.
The paved pads were nice, easy to level. But do make it hotter, IF that's possible.
