Hey all, I just bought an electric tongue jack, for my 2003 Cub. Upon installing I removed the three bolts, from my existing crank jack and removed it from my tongue, I then grabbed my new power jack and it slipped perfectly through the top hole, and then "CLANK" it wont go through the bottom hole in the tongue. It turns out the top hole is a 2 1/4 inch hole and the bottom is a 2 inch hole. The box for the jack says it fits both 2 1/4 inch and 2 inch. But the shaft is a 2 1/4 inch shaft on the new jack.
My question is does anybody have an electric tongue jack that is 2 1/4 inch on top and then reduces to 2 inch where it passes through the bottom hole?

I don't, but just take a rasp file or a 1 1/2 sanding wheel on an electric drill, not a battery drill, and make the hole larger. this is common among jacks and holes in the tongue.

Use one of these:...

Seriously, follow old guy's advise above and "hog out" the bottom hole with a rat-tail file or grinding wheel.

I took a 2 1/4" hole saw and also attached a 2" hole saw in the middle on a drill and drilled mine out. The 2" hole saw is just used in the smaller hole as a guide to keep the 2 1/4" strait and in line with the top hole. Took longer to attach both the saws to the drill than it did to drill it out.

As the owner of Kodiak hybrid (made in same plant as the Cub), I had the exact same problem last summer when I bought a Barker jack. The difference in hole sizes on my trailer wasn't 1/4" but a bit less. I ended up using a half round file to remove most material, then smoothed it out with a Dremel.

Todd --
Thanks for the tip on the two hole-saw blades! Solved a different problem I had with replacing a door knob assembly in my home.
