I want to replace the rubber roof on my rv. There is a trim piece that runs the entire length of the rv that the rubber goes under and attaches to the side wall. This trim piece looks to be riveted to the side wall. Anyone else run into this. Looks like I would have to drill out all rivets and repllace with SS screws. This is on a Fleetwood product.

Mike,
I beleive they are Rivet Screws, I'm sure because the year of your Coach that it's similar to my Eagle. I had a few come loose and it was difficult to re-secure them so I unscrewed them and replaced with, S/S Button head screws and then added clear silicone back over them.

Thanks Chuck, What did you use to try and tighten yours with? I'm going to have to take a better look at mine.

All right just ran to the back yard to take another look. My metal trim piece has counter sunk holes were the heads of these screws/rivets sit flush. The slot were you would insert a screwdriver is nothing more than a 1/8-3/16 deep perfectly round hole.

Mike, have you considered reroofing with the Liquid Rubber Roof, the two part EDPM coating? It essentially gives you a new rubber roof.

My problem is my roof has a radius from the side wall to roof. This radius piece is lifting up under the rubber.

Mike,
I couldn't figure a way to tighten the factory screws, I just replaced the few that were loose by removing them with a pair of plyers. Then I installed S/S Button head screws that seemed to bite pretty good and put a dab of silicone over them, like the factory did.
You may want to call Fleetwood service and ask what they do. My roof also rolls over the edge like 6 inches.

One friend of mine removed the rubber roof and had the entire roof sprayed with the urethane bedliner material. This is waterproof, can be walked on, requires no maintenance, and will outlast the rest of the coach. Don't know the final cost but I know that he did most of the prep work by removing his old rubber roof, vents, domes, and masking off the coach to protect it from over spray. You may check with someone that is doing bedliners in your area. They may really need the work and might give you a good deal.
