Gents,
It sure seems to be a "Hit or miss" thing here with the 5.7 Sureflo. Many are having good experience with them and some are not having good luck at all with them. I've not followed Sureflows issues closely on these pumps but, sure seem to see and hear a lot of complaints. I was recently in Quartzite a few days ago and was over hearing a conversation at a local RV supply store and a customer needed a new water pump for his RV and he mentioned to the salesman that he'd heard the 5.7 was a bad choice.
The sales rep replied "Yep, the 5.7 is junk and Sureflow's stopped making them". So, it appears the problem is wide spread. We've had our '04 Itasca with the 5.7 in it for approaching 10 months now and of the trips we've been on, it's worked flawless with the exception of a bit low pressure when I was lead to believe it's a higher pressure pump. So, will continue to follow the saga of the 5.7.

And the worst part of it all is they don't have a comparable pump to replace the 5.7s with under warranty. If you've paid over $200 for the 5.7 the Revolution 4008 they are replacing it with has about 1/2 the water flow and sells for just over $100. Wonder if they'd give a person two 4008 for the defective 5.7? Then we'd always have a good spare. Funny, I know.

Camping World has Revolution on sale now for $89.99, item #49007.
I installed my 5.7 pump in 2003 and worked fine all these years with only one problem-cycling every 2.5 minutes or so. The interval was longer at the beginning after installation and then gradually got worse. Always suspecting leak outside the motorhome because I could not find any inside the motorhome. I finally got tired of listening to the cycling and decided to find the problem. The problem is the valve body inside the pump. It has five valves made of EPDM rubber and the EPDM material is the problem in my opinion. It is too stiff and does not seal properly. In my opinion these valves should be made from Viton or other better material.
So I bought a replacement valve body($34) and after replacement it got worse. Now the pump briefly shuts off when you close the faucet and after a period of about 30 second, the pump starts running at low speed and won't shut off at all, indicating constant small leak back into the tank.
The phone call to Shurflo produced zero results so I ordered a new similar pump, Aquajet RV 5503-AV15-B636, $160.48 plus 1.99 shipping from freshwatersystems.com. Will see how will this turn out.

Well, I sent my 5.7 back after it failed (luckily just within warranty). They replaced it with a 4.0 revolution. That tells me they have no confidence in the 5.7

You know gang, this is something. You'd think that a company like Sureflow would do something about this situation after so many failures. Yes, some have gotten good luck out of theirs and have seen some long term service but, many have not.
I don't know just when the failures started for the 5.7 but obviously, it was a while ago so, you would sure think they might want to improve this situation. In my opinion, for whatever it's worth, to simply send out a lower performing, lower gpm pump, as an answer to their failing 5.7 might not be the best answer to this situation.
I'm certainly not a business person or, in anyway an analyst but, I'm just saying as a business that supplies thousands and thousands of water pumps for the RV industry and has been for years, it seems, based on the readings of at least this forum, they've put forth no effort for advancement in correcting the problems of the 5.7.
Ours is working. We purchased the coach approximately 10 months ago and other than what I think is somewhat lower pressure than what it should be, it keeps on working. Is the one they're recommending any good? Does it do as well as the 5.7 in your coaches? Just wondering here in case ours someday goes bad. I've always wondered about those really fancy ones that are black, belt driven, have little rubber feet, and from what I recall, they're pretty spendy.

I have "replace water pump" on my punch list for this spring.
I want to replace it because it's very loud compared to other pumps I've listened to...not just inside the coach, but standing outside with the cargo door open, clearly much louder than others.
When I DO replace it, it won't be with a Shurflo, based just on what I've read here.
Another example of the value of our forum...helping to keep each other from buying substandard products
And Shurflo?...you should know better.

Not on my MH, but on my boat we had the same problem as everybody. The pump was being used as a wash down and the galley sink. After a failure we started checking and found a pump by Groco. Sorry but I don't remember the model number.
This pump puts out 5 times the water than the Sureflow ever though about. You may need to GOOGLE groco pumps for help.

My latest replacement that now is in need of being replaced shows it was assembled outside the U. S. , wonder if they all have been and might be part of the problem with the 5.7. One of my current problems is that my pump would keep running (rather a low humming that could only be heard up very close in the compartment) and if the wall switch was left on for an hour or so the pump motor got so hot it wouldn't start pumping water until the wall switch was turned off and back on again. Was able to help some by adjusting the screw in the center of the head but then it wouldn't run water for several seconds when the faucet was opened. Could fix one problem and create another.
Shurflo should be sending out a check with each replacement if all they have to offer is the cheaper Revolution pump but I know that will never happen.

Sounds about like me. I'm ready for my 5th one, not counting the original one that came with the coach. Amazing Shurflo could even keep up with production to replace all the failing ones in the last 5-6 years. Guess eventually they'll run out of the 5.7s then we'll have to take the cheapy one for replacement. Unless their engineers get on the ball and develop a comparable pump.
