It has been exceptionally rainy here today so I moved my slideout in and out a few times (I have a small leak that I havent been able to pinpoint yet) and now my battery is dead. I was under the impression that when hooked up to shore power the slideout operated off of that but apparently not, naturally I then assumed that it would operate off of house battery but I guess not as the charge indicator shows them to be at 13.2. Is this normal? so now I guess the only way to retract the slideout now is to start the engine?

Mine runs of the vehicle battery. Neighbor runs off the house battery. So It seems that it ups to who builds the RV. Same way when charging the battery. They all seem to do their own thing. You need to put a charger on the battery so get it charge back up. Just starting the engine will not charge it back up.

Since it appears your slide-outs run off power from the chassis battery, mine does also, you probably have a problem with your 12V system. While I am not familiar with your system, my system will recharge the chassis battery, once the coach batteries are fully charged.

Winnebago/Itasca slide/steps/jacks run off the chassis batteries. AND most prior to 2005-2006 or so DO NOT charge the chassis batteries when on shore power. The Ultimate line has the B.I.R.D system that charges both battery banks at all times, and newer Winnie/Itasca coaches have the Trik-L-Start that does the same. You could use your battery boost switch (normally on the dash) to link the battery banks together momentarily to run the slides/jacks/steps/start the engine. Installing a Trik-L-Start would cure the problem forever.

In our case the slide runs off the chassis bat. and while it is charged by my charger American Coach wants the engine running when working the slides. The charger is too slow but the 200 amp alt will support the slide function adequately

The owner's manual for my rig says to have the engine running when moving the slides. That, to me, is a hint that the slides run off the chassis battery.
