On the contrary, I found it to be an outstanding trip with very few drastic changes in elevation. We traveled from Cherokee all the way, then Skyline Drive, to Front Royal. I found the Blue Ridge segment much less curvy than Skyline Drive but both were a real treat. We exited nightly to stay in various campgrounds a few days before we continued north.
No clearance issues even at 13'2". Vertical tunnel height is at the fog line not the center.

I agree, I travel it all the time. I take the Foretravel on it and then the Skyline Drive to Front Royal. It is an easy drive and very little traffic during the week. Leaf peeping time is much more crowed but you will love to drive major sections. I find the BRP better for views than the Skyline Drive.

We have taken the Blue Ridge Parkway in our 30' Beaver Monterey with no problems. With a 45 mph speed limit its a slow go.

I drove from Front Royal to Cherokee, NC. It took me one day to get up to Front Royal and 5 days to drive south to Cherokee, NC. The trip was great. You have to take your time and enjoy yourself. At that time I had a 37 foot gas Adventurer pulling a ranger pickup. I sure got good at downshifting by the end of that 5 days. My pet peeve was what the sign that said overlook ahead. I would pull over and all you could see were trees. I guess that 50 something years ago when the parkway was built and those trees were trimmed the overlook was great. Now on about 80% of the overlooks you can't see anything. Why in the world can they not keep the trees around the "overlooks" trimmed where you can see off those beautiful mountains? Other than that it is a great trip.
