I spent the money on motorhomes.
I miss my job.
If you made money flying an airplane - you sure as hell didn't own the plane.

I stumbled along a little similarity between flying and RVing. In flying as most pilots will tell you, for some unknown reason, no matter where you're going, you almost always end up with a headwind, instead of a nice helpful tailwind.......

In the U.S. flying from the West Coast east you will most likely have a tailwind and conversely flying from the East Coast west you will have a headwind, as the prevailing winds blow from West to East. At least that has been what the weathermen state.

Seems always to be an uphill challenge for my pre-V10 Southwind so I'm glad i have a rear window and rear-view mirror to see all the 4 wheeler's stacking-up behind me. Even on flat ground, I can barrel along at 110% of the speed limit (not easy to do) and still have them pushing to get by. So i tap my brakes and let them go.
EXCEPT: on our last trip we were passing cars like a rocket. In the pouring rain. THAT was refreshing....
They probably didn't appreciate it though. I need to slow down, but they won't like that either.

The good thing about sailing is you are on a ball (the earth) and it's down hill to anywhere.

And when sailing in Australia and NZ it was the clockwise/counter-clockwise thing.

Let’s see, one holds 80 gal diesel and the other 80 gal 100 octane, 8.5mpg at 65mph, 13 mpg at 155mph. Kansas City to SoCal 24 hours travel time with 2 nights at RV park, 9 hours travel time plus breakfast in Texas and lunch in Arizona. I can’t tell you which one I like better. They are both great fun but I don’t have to keep an eye out for the highway patrol hiding behind the next cloud.

No Hiway Patrol, just Obama hiding wanting to charge us $100 for each flight we make......if you're not aware of this....please contact the AOPA or EAA.

Parallels?

Airplanes -- previously owned hold their value or appreciate, not exactly the same thing with an RV.

Airplanes -- built to a government standard and built to last; with the exception of Airstream and a few other high end RV builders not the same can be said for RV longevity and in some cases quality. How many RV's built in the 1960's or before are used regularly, many airplanes built in the 1960's fly weekly.

As to parallels, one is an investment, the other a depreciating asset.

Every trip you take from home and return to your home is exactly 50% up hill and 50% down hill!

Here is a parallel between flying and RVing I have thought about many times. At the end of the day I have to find a place to park my MH for the night, nearly always a campground. An airplane has to find an airport to land. There are not that many places to park my MH and not that many places to land an airplane, but in both cases you have got to find one. I admit that it is more important for the airplane to find it than the MH, but when I am tired I get a little apprehensive looking for that campground.

Too bad an airplane can't land at walmart

That's only a theory until it's been tested......hmmm

Another similarity between flying and RVing is that there are a great many ways to screw up doing both activities.
