The monorail is still there, but I think you are confusing the main street station with Disneyworld. The monorail at Disneyland takes you from the hotel right into Tomorrowland inside the park

You're probably right, I might have departed at Tomorrowland but not sure... it was 1974 when it was the only one time I ever rode the monorail which I thought was the neatest thing in the world, and haven't gone into the park as yet...., I swore I still had to enter the main gate with an admission ticket after riding the monorail around (or had to pay since we had the books onhand and already used the admission-monorail ticket?) into the park.

I been inside Disneyland three other times thereafter and entered the main gate either arriving by foot or shuttle.

I never been to Disneyworld.

I rode the monorail in the 60's my first time, but I was just a little kid so I don't remember how it worked back then. I do remember it was an "E-Ticket" ride. Back when they had tickets to ride the rides I'm not sure if there was an admission to get into the park or not. Now it's set up so if you get on the monorail at the hotel you have to have your admission ticket to get into the station. When you get to the Tomorrowland station there is no ticket required to get on or off. It's possible that back when you ride it in 74 that you rode it to Tomorrowland and then had to have your ticket there to leave the station and get into the park? I have no idea, I just know the stations haven't moved.

Don't know if you're a AAA member, but this is "Disney Month" at AAA with many special offers.
