Full timers-what do you think about spray in liners or do you think a cover is better with a mat or plastic liner? If spray in-which company or product? I will not use a do it yourself application-would look like a blind monkey did it. If spray in, did you have the wheel wells sprayed? What do spray in liners cost?
Thanks

Problem with drop in plastic liners or mats is that water gets under them and starts rust.
Mine is another vote for Line-X.
Yes, do the ENTIRE inside of the bed, including the wheel liners AND consider up over the top of the bed-rails as well. It protects them from those normal chips and dings when you are loading or unloading over the side.
Also, if you have a fifth-wheel hitch, get the liner sprayed with the hitch removed - it seals all the cut metal edges.
Almost 6 years since I had mine done and, with a wash, it looks like new.
Does not mean you can't have a cover as well - I have a Retrax which works well to cover the front of my bed when towing and all of it, including the hitch, when I'm not.

I have had Armor Coat in the last 2 new trucks. Been very pleased with it. I have a enclosed trailer that the manufacture has Line-X coated frames. It seems to be holding up pretty well considering the abuse it get going down gravel roads with the tires kicking up rocks. I have approximately 120,000 miles on it. I built a couple of brush trucks for our fire department and had Rhino liner sprayed on them. It has held up well, but we are not real pleased with the installation; uneven coating, sags in the corners, had to trim around areas for lights, control panel, etc.. to install them, just too thick. I know the Rhino dealers are independent, but 1/2" thick in areas is a little much. They are also the highest priced. Top of a 7 1/2' by 8' flat bed for $850. Both of my trucks cost $500 for bed liner and window tint.

There has been a couple of discussions on this topic before that had some good info. I have the Speedliner spray liner, never had an issue with it.

Slide in bed liner is cheaper (than professional spray in) but the spary in is nicer.
4th truck with no liner of any kind and no rusting out. I'm not a contractor tossing brick and cement block in the back on a daily basis though and have always had a cover or cap when not towing.

Ordered my truck with a Dodge Bed Liner. When I went to have my hitch installed they told me they would have to cut holes in the liner- hitch has to bolt directly to the bed and that not only would the bed rust, but probably where I couldn't even see it, making the situation worse.
I removed the liner and sold it for TWENTY FIVE BUCKS. Now have a spray in liner which is fantastic compared to the drop in liner. Don't recall the manufacturer's name.

I have the spray in liner. Great way to protect the bed.
The plastic liner inserts do have some problems. Understand that if you have a plastic gas can in the back on the plastic insert there can be problems with static discharge.

We prefer the spray-in liners for all the above reasons, however, don't bother with color.
The truck before this one, we upgraded to a red spray-in to match the truck. Looked very sharp - at first. After about 5 or 6 years, it started to fade and it faded badly over the years. When we traded it in on the truck we have now, the liner color ranged from a yellowish white, to yellow, to orange to red only where the tool box sat.
Needless to say, for the current truck we went with the standard black spray-in liner.

Vote for Line X. Had the gray color installed. Very pleased with it as it is now 14 years old. No rust either.
