Been into geocaching for over 9 years. Have camped and geocached numerous times. Nice activity, and as others have said, gets you out to see things you wouldn't have seen otherwise, and is good exercise.

Been goecaching for about 7 years. I have a Droid phone but don't know much how to do things with it. Is there an app for lists of caches for it or do I have to go to the geocaching site as I usually do to see where the caches are? I don't know much about loading apps.

I have been Geocaching for two months and have 81 finds and have two hides and I really love it. Those who geocache out of their area or out of state do you find that having a vehicle GPS helps you get closer to the cache area, than have your hand held GPS go from their ?
Thanks in advance. Jay

Definitely!
We have Garmin GPSRs and load the geocaches into them.
There are several way to accomplish this task.
The easiest for us is using GSAK.
You can also copy and past the gpx files from geocaching.com to your Garmin with windows explorer.
GSAK even has a macro that will plot the best route to get up to 24 caches in one run.

Thanks for the come back.
I have a hand held Magellan explorist GC made just for Geocaching and it works good, and I though that a GPS in a vehicle would be another good tool when you are in areas that you don't know.

Pat in LA, thanks. I'll try to load the info I need to use the phone for geocaching. I have an old gps that seems to work but I do need to get into the 21st century. Also I hope to be in LA in about a month.

We geocache as well, we call it treasure hunting! We have even placed one and get such a thrill when someone finds it! lol. When someone finds ours, we ask them to let us know if they were/are a cub scout and where and what their pack number was. We are keeping track of it. The cub scouts can now earn a geocaching belt loop/merit badge.
