In the interest of simplifying our lives in anticipation of my retirement at the end of this school year, DH and I sold our TT and traded in my truck. The new owners picked up the TT last night and they were so excited! I'm sure they'll enjoy it like we did.
I will miss camping terribly, but this is what we needed to do right now. Hopefully, we'll have another camper somewhere down the line. In the meantime, I'll hang around on this site - it would be hard to completely let go of something I love!

Taking a break from camping for now

x2. Sorry to see you leave the camping lifestyle.
Hopefully you will be back in the not too distant future.

I hope things work out for you. I cannot think of retiring and camping not being a part fo it.

I'm confused why retirement would mean NO camping. Hopefully my retirement will mean MORE camping.

My DH finally retired Feb. this year. Find something to enjoy. Temps during the summer have been too miserable to be outside. It has been an adjustment having him stuffed in the house all the time. We've been married 43 years, love him very much, but we have become Mr.& Mrs. Grumpy. TT didn't move, said it was too hot. Beautiful weather now but TT is at dealer for roof repair. Spending lots of time outside now with nice cool weather. Got back into walking for excerise. Just enjoy retirement.

Retirement for me would mean full time rv'ing, as long as my health is good enough.

DW just retired, July 1, from her position as a schoold district CFO. I'm looking forward to my retirement from teaching in three years. We are hoping that our recent health set-backs will soon be behind us, putting us both back to what we remember as "normal", and providing us with more time to enjoy the camping lifestyle. However, the OP's desire to "simplify things", could be an effort to manage the family's finacial changes, something we all must face upon retirement. I also would offer my congratualtions on the up-coming retirement, and my sincere hopes that this family might, at some future point in their lives, return to this camping lifestyle which so many of us embrace with great enthusiasm. For many of us, it gives a sense of purpose in this life of constant change.
