Thor has been in business for 23 years and makes a good product. Both the Winnie and the Tuscany are good coaches. I am partial because I own a 2004 Thor/Damon Escaper DP.

There are lots of RV's right now out there. With gas so high, many dealers are having to slash prices big time. Also they are starting to want to clear out the 2011's.

4 whopping cylinders on Toyota RV's. Talk about great getting good MPG. Also I have a very light foot on the pedal. I followed some MPG advice on Livingpress.com and I now get 22 MPG! Not bad for a home on wheels.

Certainly, the reputation and quality are not special. Despite having all the bells and whistles, the ONLY way these sell is by PRICE. The same for their dealers. There' no compelling reason to buy one of these over the more popular brands. Like Gulf Stream and some others I've shopped, why put your money there?

The new Astoria was profiled in the FMCA magazine - I thought it was a Tiffin Phaeton at first glance - and the price was the same! Why bother?

You get a lot for your money with the Thor product. I happen to think that you also get quality and their customer service seems to be pretty good too.

Thor does have a lot of features standard that are optional on the winnebago

Because they feel they must, to be competitive?

Suggesting or posting a higher list price and offering a larger "discount" is an ancient sales tactic. Some manufacturers carry this further than others, let the dealers have a larger margin for bargaining, incentives to help them. Others, particularly custom builds for direct sale, never play the discount game.
