In my search for a Class A RV I found a few used Winnebago Vista's at Lazy Days in FL.
So far they have answered all my questions very timely.
What I like is the fact they have an RV park right there and the two day Class A driving school. We have never owned an RV but have camped for years.
Has anybody purchased there? How was the process and condition of the unit?
We live in VA so we would be doing most of this remotely.
I have read some reviews on-line but you can never tell if they are legit and are posted by the dealer or a competing dealer.
Than you.

I bought new but they were good to me, and you eat lunch and breakfast free while there. They fixed all my initial write ups in a couple days. Great pool there if you have time. Hope it works out for you.

In the interest of full disclosure, I purchased my current coach from Lazy Days in the spring of 2006. Since that time their founder, Don Wallace and the ESOP he started sold controlling interest and the during the downturn Lazy Days went through a chapter 11 restructure. I spent 4 nights at their campground in early May and they appear to be healthy and doing a lot of business.

Lazy Days sells more units of every type than anyone else in the business and you will find people who don't like them and will tell you they had a bad experience. They are in business to make a profit and they will naturally make as much from a sale to you as they can. If you do your home work and know what a fair price is for the unit you are interested in, then you will find them willing to negotiate. They will do a pre-delivery inspection and walkthrough with you and I urge you to take your time and make sure that you understand each system and that you insure that everything is working. It's much quicker to get problems solved before you sign than after. After the sale you will be in the service "Que." and Lazy Days has such a large service business that it can take some time.

All of the above being said, I enjoyed my buying experience at Lazy Days. They did not start out as the lowest price but by the time we signed, their price was competitive. I would not hesitate to recommend them. When we come & go from south Florida we always stop for a few days.

Before this thread is finished you may see a lot of Lazy Days negatives. They seem to attract either hate or love - no in between. We also bought our last coach from Lazy Days at a very competitive price. As they struggled with the bankruptcy junk their service, quite frankly, was horrible. The last couple of times I tried service there again, however, they had improved considerably.

As a large, professional sales organization Lazy Days will have all the advantages in a negotiation unless you are very knowledgeable and adept at negotiated vehicle purchase. If you are naive or inexperienced in this type of pressure sales (they all seem so friendly) they can eat you for lunch. If you are able to slug it out with them and keep control you will do fine there.

They sell 5000 units a year....so you are bound to get some who are not happy.
We bought there and found them to be very professional and efficient. After some extended haggling, they met my purchase conditions.

It was a great experience and I would not hesitate to recommend them.

We bought our DP there 2 years ago. The buying experience was as OK as a negotiation with a salesman can be. There were some issues I pointed out that they addressed immediately. Our rig was a 98, so it came with no warranty, which I'm fine with. They did, however, say that they had checked it for basic safety. After driving it locally a couple of times, I thought there was alot of wander and sideways drift, so I took it to Josams in Orlando to be checked. Josams said that I had 2 broken rear shocks and my axle bushings (?) were gone causing the rear axle to actually shift and move around. They recommended I not drive the coach. After Josams made the repair ($2200)I presented the bill to LazyDays Service manager, who's name escapes me. After very little negotiation, he agreed to cover most of the cost as we both felt that, while there was no warranty, they should not have sold me a coach that was not road worthy.
In short, I like LazyDays, and will use them again based solely on the integrity of the Service Manager.

I agree with those above. They are friendly and will try to make you a satisfied customer after the sale but my advise is "you can expect what you inspect".

Lazy Days is a huge operation with a lot of overhead but they also sell a lot of volumn. Before you go there, go to several dealers and get their best price on exactly the same model and floorplan you are wanting. Go to as many dealerships as you can until you get a good feel for the price as you go to each dealer with your latest price and see if they can beat it. Eventually, dealers will start telling you they cannot beat your latest price. Start the price discussions with Lazy Days and if they are high just explain that you have gotten a lower price from another dealer and see if they can beat your best price. When I bought new in 2006 Lazy Days could not meet my best price from a smaller dealer that I finally bought from. I love going to Lazy Days and spending part of a day walking through their inventory and having their free lunch. There is a Flying J, Cracker Barrel, and Camping World at the same exit all next to Lazy Days.

Notice what everyone has said so far, DO NOT expect to pay a fair price unless you are an excellent negotiator. They are professional vehicle sales people and have the upper hand all the way through the negotiations. Yes, I have purchased 4 RVs from them, when we lived on the west coast of Florida and IMHO, after Don Wallace sold out, it was a bruising experience. However in the end, I got what I perceived to be a decent price.

Another things is that if you are purchasing a used RV, DO NOT leave their property until you are completely satisfied with everything. Once you leave their premises, you are now just a number in their database and other than a face to face meeting with management, you will never see any satisfaction with your problem.

We visited Lazy Days a couple of years ago, while thinking about an upgrade, but not seriously shopping. For that purpose, they were great -- other than a major show, I've never seen so many RV's from so many different manufacturers on one lot. We walked a ton of floor plans, which allowed us to narrow the list of possibilities, and figure out what we wanted (and maybe more important, didn't want) in a new RV. The salespeople were "available," but not pushy, which we really appreciated, since at that point we were mostly just "kicking tires."

As for the campground, it was a sweet deal -- at that time, I think they gave you 2 free nights if it was your first time there. However, we found the spaces to be really tight where we were, and I struggled to get our then-37-footer in and back out of our space. As I recall, the biggest problem seemed to be that when they designed the campground, they didn't provide room for a second vehicle (toad or TV) at each site, so most people were parked in the "street," making it very hard to maneuver. But don't get me wrong, all in all it was a nice CG, and the price was certainly right ...
