My wife and I have been RV'ing for 15 years and after travel trailers we are on our third fifth wheel and are looking to upgrade in the next couple of years to a Class "A" Deisel Pusher. I started this research about a year ago and still have alot of question I'm getting answered. There are two that we are fond of and have looked at them online only. The first one is a Sportscoach Cross Country 40' and the other one is a Damon Tuscany either a 4072 or 4076. I guess the new ones are a 40LX. Any reccomendation or thoughts about these two coaches would be greatly appreciated. And thank you in advance.

We purchased a new to us 2004 Damon Escaper 4076 in January and love it. We had also been looking for over a year. Winnebago and Damon were the two manufacturers that we narrowed our short list down to. We think everything about our coach is first class and that Thor/Damon makes a very good product. Our coach is on a Freightliner chassis and is powered by a Cat 3126E engine.

We tow a 2004 Buick Rendezvous and get about 10 miles per gallon when towing.

Good luck in your search and happy RVing.

Both are entry level Diesel Pushers, and, with proper maintenance, should be fine and last as long as you desire. Recommend which ever unit has the 6 speed Allison vs the 5 speed. Have not researched on the Allison site, but, believe the 1 through 5 gear ratios are different and the 6 speed will provide better performance (& probably better fuel mileage). We owned a Coachmen motor home and had great service from the unit, from the dealer, & from Coachmen. Good and safe travels in your motor home.
NOTE: Thanks forum for a good Spell Check! Glad to have Spell Check back!
