We are heading out next week and currently planning the route. Concerned about Chicago and I80 tolls. I can go I94 to I69 to I70 and avoid Chicago and I80 all together. It appears to be only 130 miles more.

Are there any tolls on this route?

If I go I94 to I80 what might the tolls be? (driving 38ft pulling a toad, total 4 axels) And how bad is it being that close to Chicago?

Any other routes you can suggest? (don't have to be on interstates) but need to get to CO pretty quick.

update:

we ended up taking US 12-US127-US 24- and we will continue on to Denver along US 36, all pretty decent roads so far.
