We are RV newbees but live on the panhandle. Fort Pickens Camp Site is an amazing quiet location. Lots of history to see in the fort itself which is still open to the public and free. Geronimo was kept here and the fort offers an amazing view. Nearby the Pensacola Naval Aviation is also worth seeing and no charge. The Blue Angels have scheduled pratice dates that you can watch and sometimes even get autographs. We had planned on taking our first trip to the beach this weekend for labor day but they were booked. I can't speak for ammenities as an RV'er since we havn't taken the RV, but we love to go. The "oil spill" has hurt the area economy but the beautiful white sand beaches are still pristine. Great fishing and beach combing (especially after a good storm)!

I'd love to see the state file a suit against the media. A real shame the damage those irresponsible "reporters" have done.

We travelled last winter to St. Andrews State Park right on the gulf, close to Panama City FL. We thought it was great! Very reasonable, the beaches were pristine, and we were able to get a campsite right on the bay. Have a great trip.

We stayed at Topsail in Desten and thought it was a great place to camp. They had a shuttle to the beach, rented bikes, pool shuffleboard and great places to eat nearby. We liked it alot.
