Will be leaving from SW Michigan (Watervliet, Kalamzoo area for Prince Edward Island in a couple of days. Would like to visit Niagara Falls on the way. Looks like both I-69 and I-94 will get me to about the same location in Pt. Huron. Which is the better route for Class A w/toad? Also, any recommendations for camping in the Falls area. Plan on going into Canada from the Falls and would like recommendations to reach Prince Edward Island. Thanks in advance.

I69. Absolutely. Avoid I94 as it will route you through the Detroit metro area traffic and there is a lot of construction on I94 between Jackson and Ann Arbor.

At the Falls we stayed at the KOA on Lundy's Lane and enjoyed it, but you might check the Locations forum for more suggestions.

I-69 is the best route with slow down between M-15 and M-24 for construction. You can check the Blue Water bridge web site for any construction or back ups.

I-69 to Port Huron is the much easier route...I-94 through Detroit is a mess these days...

Another vote for I69 over I94 ANY DAY!!!
Road east of Flint is a bit bumpy but tolerable.
From the Falls you have to choose to drive through New York or Ontario.
HWY #401 will get you into Quebec, but means you back-track around the west end of Lake Ontario, plus you need to get through Toronto. OK between 10am and 2pm or the middle of the night. AVOID Toronto rush hours at all costs!

For Niagra.. I-94 to I-96 to the Ambassador Bridge, you miss Port Huron by about fifty miles and cut 100 miles or more off the trip.

But if you want to go via Port Huron.. Pay attention to the map as I-69 goes through Lansing,, I have gotten "Confused" there and .... Well, that was my company HQ back when I was a working stiff. I have spent some time in Lansing.

You are leaving from Waterveliet? My brother lives there.

Actually, wa8yxm, since you need to go NE from Detroit, it is very close to the same amount of miles (actually, according to Google Maps, it's an additional 8 miles to go the I-69 route).

I personally would take I-69. I-94 thru Detroit can be a nightmare, and (not sure if it is still going on) there was a major resurfacing of I-94 in western Wayne county that brings I-94 down to 1 lane at times.

Sounds like it will be I-69 to Port Huron. How is highway 401 into Canada?
