I am a new owner of a 2005 Alpine 40'fdts. It has hydro hot system and two 15000btu roof a/c with heat pump. Of course, the coach has 50 amp power line and a 30 amp adapter. Will 30 amp service at a park handle all this or do I need 50 amp?
Thanks, Mike

Do you want to run both a/c units if so you will need 50 amp or you will overload 30. 30 amp should handle 1A/C unit microwave and refer but you will have to be mindfull of what else you have running.

You need the 50 amps. You will only be able to run one air conditioner on 30 amps.

You'll absolutely need 50 amp if you are in Nevada. I can get by just fine with only 30 amp for a winter stay but in the dead of summer 50 amy is a must. Here is a basic chart for understanding amp draw so you can decide what you can get by with.

50 amp. If not using 50 amp do not run the hydrohot on electric and you won't be able to use more than one heat pump. (heat pumps are the ac units run in reverse, sort of)

Not necessarily true, it all depends on the coach's Energy Management System (EMS). My Intellitec system allows me to run both A/C's on 30 amp service. Not sure how it does it, but the rear air seems to be operating at a lower efficiency level when on 30 amp. My EMS will also shed power to other appliances such as the refer and each A/C, should I need power for the microwave or coffee pot.

Many 50a sites have a 30a connector. Use your adapter and give it a go.
See just what you can do before it trips.

We had no trouble running both roof airs on our Foretravel while connected to 30a service, but when the DW unthinkingly turned on the micro at the same time.........TRIP. There went the circuit breaker on the post. Ours does have an energy management system where you select the incoming service amperage.

If you turn the electric element on the Hydo Hot on, That may also draw too many amps to run along with both AC's. Just run the Hydro Hot on the diesel only and you may get by on the 30 amp.

EMS will alternate the compressors between two air conditioners leaving only both fans on at the same time. Gives the appearence of running both air conditioners at the same time but only one compressor is running at any time. So there is actually only one air conditioner running at a time.
