As far as wimpy several people on here are well over the 20-0 mark and the ladder supports them fine.
How or why is the ladder in the way?
Thanks for responses. As far as being in the way, I always have some sort of hitch mount carrier mounted for bicycles, scooter, platform for firewood, etc. I was thinking about ditching the access ladder and using a 19' little giant that collapses to 5'7" and can be stored in the basement. It's not so vertical and much sturdier.

And the stored one can be a pain in the posterior end when you need to get up there, i.e. digging it out of storage. I store my extension on the upper part of the ladder and velcro it down.

Before loosing 99 lbs. I topped the scales at 311 and had no trouble with the ladder that came on my MH. It is installed with stainless steel screws and I have not had any rust problems in the 5 years that I have had the coach. I use it regularly to check the roof for required maintenance.

Scary, NO, and considering I'm acrophobic that is saying something. though i find it harder to get down on than a regular ladder. but that is because it's vertical.
WIMPY.. That's the biggie.. And why it's history
In the way.. Not on my rig.
I took it off
I had my body and fender man make me two J hooks, These are genuine round bottom J's The kind of aluminum truck bumpers are made out of
These are very securly bolted to the rig just below the roof line
A bit below my 6'3" tall eye level I have a standard stainless steel "Grab Assist" shower bar Bathroom accessories isle at Home Depot et-al.
From my father I inhearted a ladder that is the only one of it's kind I"ve ever seen, it is about a 8' step ladder in one mode. in it's other mode about a 15' extension ladder, Just the perfect length for getting on my roof.
It hangs on the "J"s and is padlocked and bungied to the shower bar.
Currently it's in extension mode since the WI-Fi adapter I'm using is up on the roof
