I am asking for help to settle a small arguement between the DW and myself. As beginner RV'ers we were given a US States decal map that so many RV's have attached to their units. Arguement is: attach a state decal to the map only if you RV in that state at least one night, or attach a state decal even if you only traveled through that state without staying a night. Quite the issue or not. Thanks...

IMHO, driving through doesn't count.

The deal is, each RVer decides for him/herself what those decals mean on their own RV. On some of our previous rigs, we decided that driving through was ok if the state is really small (i.e. RI, NJ). Currently we've adopted the "we have to camp there for it to count" philosophy.

For most, I've observed, the maps should be redesigned to show only Interstates, their rest stops, Truck Stops, Walmarts and times between at 75 miles an hour. Which is fine. Leaves all the rest of this awesome country for some of the rest of us who live life in a slower and more adventurous way.

Our rule is, spend a night there.
However, it transfers camper to camper as we have grown. So, any state we have camped a night in, gets a sticker.

Your map, your rules.
Ours is we camp in state with RV, OR we spend entire day touring state. For example we spent two days touring Rhode Island, but camped in Connecticut cause it was more convienient. We counted Rhode Island and Connecticut (which we also toured).

Ditto. The rule is "There is no rule."
We only put the states we've camped at least one night in.
