Walmart bays are not tall enough and any store you stop at will tell you they don't work on RV's.
Are you just saying Walmart or have you actually had your RV's oil changed there.
I am just wondering if there are certain stores or how you are getting your oil changed there as I have stopped at many Walmarts a nd NONE will change an RV's oil.

Find the local RV supplies, yes there are places other then camping world out there. They will either do the service, or know someone that will. Any medium duty truck shop can also handle something that tall and heavy.

Check with your campground for a local mobile oil & lube co.
They will come to your campsite & perform it there.

It would seem that a full service rv dealership that sells RV's would be able to change the oil in a Rv like what they sell .

Now this would be wonderful. Will have to ask around and see if this type of service is available in most places.
I used to change my oil myself, but now after 7 back surgeries, just can't get down there and crawl under any more.

I change my own at home once a year, but if I needed to I would go to speedco and have them do it. They are located next to truck stops. Can find locations on the internet.

I do my own changes. I installed a Fumoto valve in the oil pan in place of the drain plug to make the job easy and clean. I haven't had any problem finding a spot to perform the change (ask permission).

Hey all,
Can one of you give me more info on this Fumoto drain feature, how do you change your filters and in my case I have to get under the truck on the drivers side frame to change my secondary gas filter but can change the oil filter and primary gas filter in the engine compartment. I change my own oil and would be interested in quicker, cleaner method.
I do mine flat ground with plastic oil catch pan but I have an F450 which makes getting under it more friendly. Reuse the oil jugs for the old oil and a zip lock frezzer bags for the filters, and keep a box of medical gloves for my hands and old dish towels for clean up and store equipment in a large trash bag.
Thanks,
Bill

Skid Row Joe wrote: rondeb wrote: We have been having a real problem finding a place to get our oil changed. Either they don't have a bay tall enough (we are only 11') or they won't work on RV's even though our Class C is really just a Ford 350 Econoline Van when it comes to changing the oil. We stopped at 2 different Ford dealerships today. One said they couldn't do it because they didn't have an RV bay and the last one after considerable persuasion and a 2 hour wait, we got an oil change.
We have been trying to find a place for quite a few days. I just was wondering what everyone else does to get your oil changed. Since I'm almost nearly always on-the-road in my rig. I change mine myself in Walmart Supercenter parking lots. I carry my own plastic tub to catch the nearly 4-gallons of used oil, and tote it back to the Walmart Auto Service center in one of their grocery buggies to recycle it. I also give them the old oil filter. I carry paper towels and Windex spray to clean-up my plastic oil pan tub. I buy 4 gallons of Shell Rotella T 15W-40 from the Walmart I am changing at.
Never had a problem in 25 years of oil changing @ Walmarts myself. I like to save money DIYing it. It's basically a win-win for me because I can change my oil by miles exactly on-time - even when on-the-road.
Always have changed oil on all my vehicles starting when I was kid changing our family lawn mower engine oil every few weeks.
Thanks for the info. I know exactly what you are talking about but not even all of those service centers will change oil as their bay doors are n't tall enough for the RV. We live in Spokane WA and the Ford dealer closest to us has a huge service center, but does not service any RV's as they don't have a bay tall enough. (this is a brand new dealership) We have to go all the way out to the Ford dealership in another town to have any service work done. It just isn't as easy as people seem to think. Ford dealerships service ford's, but when you put this house on the back side of the Ford they all of a sudden don't know what to do with you. LOL.
And we have found that most businesses must have all the work they can handle as they don't want to do an oil change without being able to use their lift or a service pit which almost everyone of them do not have a service bay door tall enough to get in. They flat refuse to do an oil change the old fashion way by crawling under and dropping the oil plug and replace the filter. It has been a very insightful venture over the last year trying to get our oil changed.
Thank you so very much for your PM reply.

Bill, try this website for the Fumoto valve:

I also use a K&N oil filter, which has a 1" nut welded to the bottom. Makes changing it quite easy, using a 1" socket wrench.
