I've been using the awning rod for several years to un-block the "pyramid" left by aliens in the middle of the night. My tank is off-set, and it takes a bit of poking around, but it has worked every time. For those who wouldn't want to use the rod for its normal purpose after this, get a second rod just for this operation.

Have you looked under the trailer to physically see which drain pipe is connected to the outside knife valve? They could have been mis-marked if they are labeled. Looking (facing) at mine - the one on the right is greywater and blackwater is on the left.

I use chemicals in my toilet/holding tank which start out blue. It's easy for me to fill the bowl with a gallon or so of water, drop in the blue Oxy-Kem and flush - while the flush valve is open, I can see into my tank. If my tank is full (no indicators), if I try to flush - it splashes back (not nice).

You might consider getting some clear fittings so you can see when the dump job is done.

Since the valves are mislabeled and both show empty I would check if there are a few wires hanging and not connected to the terminals to show the level inside. It normally takes 3-4 months for them to quit working accurately. That should be a warranty item to have them hook up and check the sensors if you don't want to check that out. I carry a spare tire in my lower compartment that knocks the wire off all the time. After a while you learn how long you can go between dumps and forget about the lights.

I guess using the awning hook for marshmallows or hot dogs would be out if you use it for the purpose suggested on here.

There are probably exceptions but in GENERAL the black tank is under the bathroom and the grey elsewhere.

Glad you figured it out. When mine gets "clogged" I go outside to the wilderness and find a stick.
