The RV service center I am talking to about performing the Norcold recall fix has said that Norcold does not cover more than 1.5 hours of labor for the fix and if it requires more time, I will have to pay. Has anyone been asked to pay extra for the repair?

Call Norcold or find another shop with better ethics!

It seems to appear that yours may be the first one they have done. Time should not vary that much between different RV's. If they have done one, they should know how long it will take.

Don't pay a nickel. Make Norcold foot the bill and if you don't trust this yo-yo to do it right, go someplace else.
I just got ANOTHER recall notice from Norcold. This one for serial numbers from 10380000 to 1099000 for the N8xx models.
I have a N8xx but my serial number is in the 765599 range. Our fridge blew it's yellow payload last Feb and although there was no fire, it was a horrible smell and I happened to be down with the flu when it happened. I mean I was sick BEFORE this gunk got in the RV...and I was home alone. Bottom line, our extended warranty paid for most of it but we had to have someone come and get the fridge and haul it to a repair place because I was too sick to move the RV and I needed it fixed.
So on the back of my recall notice that doesn't cover my serial numbers, I wrote them a note and mailed it to them in their customer service reply envelope.
"Our fridge exhaused that yellow stuff 2/25/2010 and made me sicker than I was. And no it's not on your recall list. (Wasn't then and isn't now).
All I read about is RV fire story after RV fire story - all from fridges that have gone bad.
I'm not going to feel bad when the Government goes afer NORCOLD the way it went after Toyota, Goodyear and BP. I called your company when it happened to us and got the cold shoulder. I don't think you really care about this problem or your customers."
and yes, I put my name on that letter.

fordsooperdooty wrote: Call Norcold or find another shop with better ethics! fordsooperdooty gave you good advise. Norcold will tell you who in you area will do it. I had a Norcold "dealer" refuse and I went elsewhere. Did not pay a penny!!! And I know not to go b back to the guy who would not work on it! He was a nut case!!!

My recall was done in the allotted time. Dropped off the MH, went to breakfast at Perkins, got back and it was finished. Find a service center that knows what they are doing.

Find another shop. I am a Norcold service center. The first one I did was 2 hours. The second one was 1 hour 40 mins. The next dozen have come in just under an hour and a half. I do the entire job myself. It's not that tough. Find somebody else and never go back for anything to that shop.
