I just was reading about some of the sensors not working and also how the or will my A/C run while hooked up to my house type forums. I personally think that RV manufactures need to stop putting in sensors in the tanks and put soft starts in the A/C's. probably a much more needed item than sensors that never work any way. Would be interesting if we could make up a list of things they need to address, of things to delete during construction and or add to make RV'ing more enjoyable.

you're right about tank sensors. A worthless piece of junk.

Or the manufacturers could just use a monitor system that works well from outside the tanks. Such as the ones from SeeLevel.

I have a tornado flusher mounted to my black tank and Horst Miracle Probes on the gray and galley tank. All sensors work very well.

There are good sensors out there and it would be nice if some of the manufacturers would quit focusing so much on cost. If given the opportunity to special order an rv, many would gladly pay the cost difference for dependable sensors, stainless steel screws, decent audio/video system, dependable tires, etc., etc., etc. You'd probably be surprised how little it would add to the building cost and most of us wind up spending that and more adding, replacing or repairing things anyway. I don't like how my Dometic refer has no light on the outside when I have the gas only switch on.
A blue light would have been nice for that just to remind me its on gas only and that the thing is running.
It does have the yellow one for auto.

Winnebago went standard with the TruLevel non contact tank sensor system on their class As back in 2005.
I had it installed on my 2004 at the end of 2005.
That is the good news. The bad news is that the tank walls can still get cruddy enough to fool the sensors.
I don't have a tank rinsing system or a way to install one so it sprays on the wall where the sensors are mounted.

Although the SeeLevel system is considered to be one of the best aftermarket units, it can still be fooled if the tank wall gets cruddy enough. That is according to the owners manual posted on their web site.

Add some ROBIC septic tank treatment to your tanks and fill them up. Let it set for a few days for the bacteria to work and then dump them. They will be a lot cleaner. Let the bugs do the work. As far as the manufacter putting in anything but the cheapest, LOTS OF LUCK. Tires that just are large enough, axles the same. Why not disc brakes, there isn't a car out there that doesn't have at least front disc's, minimal insulation in the ceiling, bumpers just strong enough to hold the sewer house. Matresses that give you a backache and are worth $25. Just junk. The list is endless.

My sensors work fine, but then I keep my tanks clean ... coincidence?
