I stuck with AMA (Alberta's chapter of CAA / AAA). I've recieved excellent service from them any time I've called. Even came right into my campsite last year to fix a tire that had gone flat (picked up nail and slow leak over night). I already use AMA so I upgraded to RV coverage - and then upgraded that to Platinum for an upcoming cross continent trip we have planned (9,000 km through 3 provinces and 22 states). I hope I will not find out how good the coverage from AAA is in the USA for CAA members - I will expect the same level of service I get here in Alberta.

While I'm looking to purchase a RV, my dad let me use his Class A last month for a trip to the Michigan UP. His RV is about 10 years old and hasn't been used much in the last few years so emergency road service was high on my mind. Since my dad didn't have the service on his RV I thought I better purchase it.
I went with Good Sams because after talking to the Coach Net rep on the phone I didn't get a very straight answer if I would be covered since I wasn't the registered owner of the RV. Since Good Sams covered any RV that I owned, rented or borrowed I just went with them.
Wouldn't you know about an hour into the trip, I blew a rear tire. I called Good Sams and they said they would have somebody out in a hour to fix my flat. Now this is when things turned for the worse. After talking to Good Sams I then phoned my dad letting him know about the flat tire on his RV. My dad wanted both tires on the dual to be new so he instructed me to call Good Sams and get two new tires. I immediately called Good Sams and had them order me two new tires instead of one.
Well the one hour wait started to be about two hours and the service technician has showed-up yet. I called Good Sams asking what the hold-up was. When Good Sams changed the order from one tire to two tires, they cancelled the first order but never submitted the second order. Good Sams apologized and said they would re-submit the order for the two tires and the technician would be out to my location in about an hour.
Well another hour passed and instead of waiting any longer I called Good Sams again. This time when the second order was submitted, the tire place didn't have the tire load (F) I requested, all he had in my size was the next load higher (G). Instead of calling me back, Good Sams must have dropped the ball again and the second order like the first was dropped. Good Sams apologized again and the order for the two tires was re-submitted. An hour later the service technician showed up and in about an half-hour I was on my way.
To make a long story short, Good Sams dropped the ball a couple times in my case. They knew it and they told me so. To help compensate me for my troubles, Good Sams knocked $50 off the bill and sold me the G load tires at the same price as the F load tires. Yeah it was a minor inconvenience and a headaches, but If I'm not willing to put up with this much I better forget buying an RV and vacation in a motel room. Would I still go with Good Sams after all this? Yes.

Roadside service and extended warranties are on my "Do not buy" list. I haven't had any of them for years. And I've got the dough in my pocket to prove it with what I've not paid in premiums.
If you are on the highway and broke down, call the highway patrol or flag one down if you are out of cell phone distance. They all have towing companies they contact that know what they are doing. They can't get the business from the highway patrol unless they meet certain standards.
If you are broke down in civilization contact a local repair shop and see who they recommend.

AAA is NOT a national company, but many regional companies and not all have RV service nor will they honor any other AAA RV road service. Just hope if you need service that you are in one of the couple of regions that will respond.

I have had the both and COACH NET hands down. I have been towed twice and hauled once. So I figure I have received value for the $$$ spent.

I would appreciate any input on which road service you think is best Coach Net or Good Sam.
Hope all of you are having a good summer.

I got a call last night from my mom, their Class B had broken (the rear passenger wheel bearing went) down near Mt Baker in Washington and their BCAA (BC's CAA) membership wouldn't cover the tow. I drive much further distances with my Class B so I have a Premier membership and I knew mine would cover it.
I drove down there and called AAA, they sent a driver, he was there in 30 minutes with a flat deck because their van can't be picked up with the tow bar. He drove us to the border crossing and we had to arrange with BCAA to pick us up at the border and take us across. It took about 3 hours with the wait times to go the distance of what would take 1 hour and 15 minutes driving but everyone along the way was helpful and we got the van home.
I'm unsure if I would rely upon them for a Class A, but for our Class B's and cars, I'm well covered.

That may explain what happened years ago when I had two blowouts at the same time on a trailer in the middle of Nevada. Called AAA roadside service and they said couldn't help me.
I Called Les Schawb and they came out from Winnemucca and put two new tires on while we sat on the side of the interstate at 100 degrees + temp.
That was when I decided paying for roadside service was a waste of money.

I have had Camping World RS Assistance for a little over 10 years. (Same as GS and same price).
In that time they have come to my aid 4 times. Twice on the MH for tire issues, once on my pickup for engine trouble and once for my wife for drive train coverage.
Each time the response was professional and caring. My wife especially was grateful when they helped her and talked her through the ordeal when I was not arround. I had one less than great service provider but he was a nice chap and did get us going in the end.
I carry a mounted spare in all our vehicles except the Shelby (has no provisions for carrying a spare) which makes roadside rescue much easier to deal with.
