Which used to be settled with talking. Escalation is not new. The extremes we use now are.

So now we've come full circle and maybe now you can see that the homeowner in the original article was wrong for physically confronting the 14 yr old teen.

Today, some parents think their little monster can do anything to anybody and it is perfectly fine, no matter how wrong the kid was. I think the kid got what he deserved and the parents should be responsible for their monsters actions.

well I am a generation X raising generation Y kids, and let me tell you if this had been my 14 year old, his father and I would have said, "Good, you got what you deserved. we hope you learned a lesson from it." We try to teach our kids to take responsibility for their actions. I certainly hope we are NOT in the minority!

I would like to think you are not in the minority, but after 25 years as a LEO and watching what is happening with today's generation, Yes you are in a very small minority. To you I say thanks, for being a caring parent, not one of the obnoxious "helicopter" parents, who won't allow the child to grow and learn, with proper guidance.

The father should have thanked the guy for helping him do the job he was apparently lacking in (never happen). We had a curfew. It was the law. Has that changed? And yeah, we all did stuff like this but after 10pm you better not get caught.

I think the father of the juvenile delinquent should be thankful that he is not attending a funeral.
