I have always used a locking pin, but really had not thought about kids just pulling the pins for fun. Thanks for the info. I use a simple routine in the CG. When I pull the hitch out of the receiver, the hitch goes directly back into the trailer ball receiver, latch and lock. I don't have to carry it far or find a place to put it. Of course a little latch help from DW makes it easy. I'm ready for spring now. Safe travels to all.

I have a neighbour who was in a store in a mall. Someone took his hitch from the receiver while his wife was in the car. She didn't realize what they were doing until it was too late. When they went in another store up the street, his wife recognized the same car parked there and said "there is the car with our hitch in the receiver". My neighbour got out and took his hitch back and drove away.

Not long ago scrap steel was going for over $300 a ton across the border in Mexico. Even if it was bolted down people were stealing it, including manhole covers. How fun would that be to be the one driving down the road after that was stolen.
