I set the cruse control for 60 for all speeds limits posted 55 or higher.

On a three lane highway I try to stay in the middle lane. If there is no traffic I will be around the posted truck limit. If there is traffic I will try to keep pace. I normally drive the Mass Turnpike to work every day, so I get enough of my speed there.

I like 58-62 mph--not usually in any hurry to get somewhere.

Kind of like WA: car speed if not towing, truck speed limit if towing anything. In some well marked areas you can't use the left lane if the GVWR is 10,000#'s or you're towing anything.

I tow and set the cruise on 62 mph every where I travel (highway). Even with CA's 55 speed limit towing, I just leave it on 62 and let the trucks pass me

IF your in Il and doing 55 don't look at the people next to you. They don't like you.My sweet point is about 62 and usually do that on the expressway in town. Out of town I'm about 70-75. In Texas I did the posted of 80 but did not feel right so I slowed down to about 75. I have good brakes on the MH and the toad and check them often. But I drive the speeds that the people around me are doing most of the time.

My SIL got stopped in the state of Washington and was told he had to drive the truck speed when towing not the car speed. So I would think it is a state thing and each to their own I guess.

I did hear from my brother who is a driving instructor for AARP. That IL. was going to raise the 55 MPH to 65 MPH in 2010. Not that I ever noticed many doing 55 to start with.
This will be a welcomed change and should increase the safety by having everyone drive at nearly the same speed.
Legally a motorhome is not a truck, so it has to be uniquely identified on speed limit signs. (they are in most areas in IL except farther south I noticed the designation was not there)
Most of the time, I drive at what ever speed I can flow with the bulk of the traffic, which is typically not what the trucks are doing.

The 318 HP I have in my coach push me faster than 70 limit we have on our freeways only downhill.
With the car? Have you seen "90 mph" limits in US ?
