if you look at the raw numbers they are still way way down from 2 years ago and the number is so poor that unless we have a much bigger number it is still going to not be many sales. Last year the sales were down 80 percent and that was after a previous 80 percent decline the year before.
Lets say you sold 100 units three years ago.
then last year you were down 50%
so that is 50 units
then the next year you are down another 50 %
so you are at 25 Units.

now this year you go up 100% (double your sales) you are only at 50 units not where you started.

Now if you do it with 80 percent two years in a row it is even uglier.

start with 100 units and go down 80% and that takes you to 20 and then another 80% off te 20 units is 16 and you end up with 4 now double it and you are at 8 a full 92 percent below where you were 3 years ago but heck you are up 100 percent this year. Look at the numbers in history before we jump for joy or worry about campsites.

What does that mean?? Are sales up because people are dumping their RVs because they cant afford them or are all RV prices falling through the bottom including the dealers and just more units being sold? Is the RV industry making money or just getting rid of inventory?

That will mean price discounts will be smaller once again and no more bargains for the one's buying.

Numbers can be manipulated anyway the author wants them to read... I seriously doubt that the RV Industry is anywhere near recovered and talking to my dealer seems to bare that out... Sales are still way off, and financing for both dealer lots and individuals is still very tight and hard to get...

I was just at my dealer yesterday and he said that they would be at the show this year with their "store" (RV accessories) but doubt they would bring any units as the manufacturers are still not participating with financial help for the shows as they did in the past... My dealer's lot is pretty barren because he cannot obtain financing for the units... Unemployment in Elkhart, IN (the RV capitol of the country) is still way over 20% with vacant factories and dealerships all over the place...

Nope - IMO that statement from the news source is all "smoke and mirrors"...

The dealer I bought my Fiver from last week, said they sold 10 RV's that Saturday. Last year this time they almost closed the doors for good.

Winnebago reports increase in sales, but still losing money. However, they are happy with the present trend, it is a comeback road.

You will rise higher only if everything works properly with your plane. If you lose your thrust and the wind blows hard enough, you will go backwards.

A few years ago I recall some postings of doom and gloom with the majority of responses laughing at the postings and even some not so nice replies. Tens of millions of people are not laughing now.

That light at the end of the tunnel is not connected to an on-off switch. It is connected to a rheostat switch like the one in my dining room. Currently it appears the switch is being turned clockwise and the light is brightening but it can stop or reverse at any moment. I just hope that someone does not decided to PUSH it in.

I believe the better sales that some regions experienced this year will be short lived. I see very little in the private sector picking up much. About the only major contract business in this area is government spending related.

I wonder just how many folks purchasing new motorhomes this year were doing it for the same reason I did; no decent returns to be had in the CD markets for matured CD's so might as well purchase something we want before inflation drives product prices out of reach.

All the current government spending is going to do to our economy just what any person would be facing with half-a-dozen credit cards maxed out and unable to meet even the minimum payments.

I'm not sure those "Good News" disposable razors are still around and I think that was about the only "good news" I have seen in stores for a good number of years.

The industry will take years to come back. I would not hesitate to say even a decade. The new emissions regulations will add to the stress in the industry. the increase from such a low number is nice but and is signaling that the decline has stopped but I would not go so far as to say an industry turn around is in the offing.
