Folks,
We've owned this M/H for about 5.5 years now and for quite some time, I've been fighting a wandering problem while heading straight down the road. I have put this subject on here before and received numerous antidotes for curing it. None of them worked.

The alignment is spot on, tire pressure is perfect for the load on the front end (according to the Bridgestone tire loading chart), I've even added 2.5 degree Castor shims, wheel bearings are perfect, all front end steering components are perfect---tie rod ends, drag link ends, yada, yada, yada. My front end is not as loaded with weight as much it could be according to the chassis/spring weight limits but, I've got about as much stuffed in the forward part of this coach as I can.

So, I picked up this "Safe Steer" at CW the other day and decided to install it last night. I haven't had a chance to do a road test yet but I'm hoping for at least some improvement. The theory of operation behind the mechanism sure seems appropriate but, the test will tell. The reviews on their website sure say it's worth the money, but I'm not always sure I believe the reviews on products, simply because I've purchased items before based on reviews and been disappointed.

Anyway, I'm posting a couple of pics to show you what it looks like installed. For those of you that have them, do the springs look like their extended enough while the vehicle is at rest and pointing straight ahead? I installed it dead on according to their instructions and although the springs have some serious tension on them, I thought they should be extended a bit more for more stabilization tension. Again, time and the test will tell.

I don't have a steering stabilizer on at this point and maybe will put one on later. Thanks for opinions boys.

I put a Steer Safe on two previous coaches....Install and adjust spring tension as instructions state....Device works as advertised...easy to install if you are somewhat handy.

I had a '92 Chevrolet P30 MH on which I installed Safe Steer, Roadmaster anti-sway bar and steering stablizer. I am not exactly sure what component made the improvement because they were all installed at the same time. However, the improvement was significant, the MH tracked true and was a pleasure to drive. I was very happy with the improved handling.

I recently received one as a gift from FIL, so I installed it. It definitely helps in the cross wind gusts, as I encountered severe ones in the Columbia River gorge just out of Portland (25 to 35 MPH). Probably shouldn't have been on the road, as no other RV's were at that time. As to helping any wandering, I had so little before can't really answer that. Hoping I don't find out how well it helps with a front tire blowout. The help it gives in the cross winds makes it well worth the investment especially for me and what I spent.

It looks like mine. I wish I had a Safe T Plus instead of the Steer Safe. To me springs like that belong on garage doors and they do make some noise.

Thanks guys, so far it sounds as if no one's been unhappy with the product after 1, spending that much, two, actually using it and seeing and feeling results. I say spending that much, $400.00 from CW. To me, it's just a few pieces of metal with a couple of eye-bolts and a couple of springs but, hey, they did all the research and came up with the configuration that I hope will help with with the wandering.

The service adviser at CW also wanted me to install a larger anti-sway bar for the rear, to the tune of about $900.00-1000.00 and, that's if I installed it. Whew! We'll see how this helps first before I go spending that much on further attempts to improve the handling of this monster. Thanks again for your comments gang.

I have had both Steer Safe and Safe-T-Plus and will say that the Steer Safe was much better, IMHO. I am going to have a Steer Safe system installed at Quartzsite this winter, by the factory.

My first class A was a new '93 28 ft Fleetwood Bounder on a Chev P30 chassis. Our first trip was a short drive of 150 mile round trip to a State Park. With a slight cross-wind that thing was all over the road, and since we were planning a 4,500 mile trip to the East Coast in a couple months I couldn't imagine fighting it all the way there and back. I installed a Steer Safe and had a wonderful trip. My next coach was '97 32 ft Fleetwood Southwind and the very first thing I put on it was Steer Safe.
Hope you are as satisfied with yours as I was with mine.

I installed them last year. It was the best 325 bucks I ever spent. MH tracks straight down the road, even through road ruts. You will see a dramatic difference. More control and less fatigue.

Last time I had Bounder, I installed wider wheels on its front.
They were sold as "Ellis wheels".
Thanks to wider rubber I could change from 80 psi to 50 psi. Motorhome quit getting airborne on road bumps.
