Remember way back when they were giving credit cards to people with no address or SS# trying to target the illegals? I remember well and will NEVER deal with them because of that. Let's see if they pay THEIR bills on time.
We agree with you and wish we had better options. However, we spend over half the year RVing in Mexico, and we need a national bank that partners with Mexico, as BOA does with Santander. We need a credit card, not a debit card, for many transactions in Mexico.
BOA happens to be our best choice -- even though we are disgruntled, to say the least. The best we can hope for is to force them to do the right and ethical thing in dealing with us.
DH's point in posting was to alert others who RV much of the year and depend on e-bills and e-pay that they need to be hyper-vigilant.

Folks, I have been posting this advise for several years; get rid of the credit cards and just use a debit card or checks. As I have said so many times before, the credit Card companies are nothing more than a legalized mafia organization that preys on those who cannot or will not responsibly manage their funds and budget.
The people at the top of these companies have no scruples or ethics and the words honesty and fairness are not in their dictionary. The only difference between them and the pay-day loan sharks, pawn shops, and the rest of their ilk is their fancy digs.
In another long-time venue I believe they are referred to as the "money changers".

My friends,
We all must admit this is a changing world than that, which we grew up in.
We grew up in a community, which depended on a person’s word; it was better than the most sophisticated legal contract contrived by man. A handshake was gold. It was the measure of that person’s character, which was their justification for their life and was the most important asset they had to offer.
I remember an incident which occurred in which my parents were involved in; it was an event which questioned their character. Their devastation of the event has had a life-long effect on me. They were completely resolved of the event to the point that the accusing person begged their forgiveness. They, without grievance accepted the apology and life went on.
I grew up in an isolated rural area where people depended on one another. Unfortunately, it seems that congestion always contaminate relationships. Congestion creates conflict, it seems.
The result of all the changing conditions of life in the US is affecting those of us who are growing older. It is not that we are not sophisticated enough to understand the rapid changes, but we do not accept the irrationality of the changes. We have served our country, we have paid our taxes, obeyed the laws, were responsible for our children, put them through college, and the list is endless.
Today we have to endure the corruption, greediness and deceit in business, which grows out of control because our Government has given them a free pass, the lobbyists, not constituents, have their ear. Term limits would restructure the benefits to the constituents rather than the politicians.
Politicians are scolding constituents in Town Hall meetings. HUH? Ok, you get the message.
MY political affiliation has changed, I am not a Republican nor Democrat, I am a Truth/Honesty constituent.
Why would I have expected anything different from a HUGE US. business?

Everything you have said is so true. However, each person has a different life style and problems, which require use of Credit Cards.
In our case we have to maintain a 'home phone' number and Credit Card matched to the address of the 'home phone' number. Great life, HUH?
We have Internet 24/7 (God, I hate that expression) to conduct our business.
We had to choose the best card (internationally, flawlessly, accepted), which is in an unusual situation. We have researched the best (least objectionably) card suited to our circumstances. Unfortunately it is from the largest bank in the world, which is BOA.
It is a sad situation

Unfortunately, there is no political party with that particular ideology. It's sad that we, as a nation, are allowing the two parties to polarize us and turn us against each other when what we should be doing is coming together with one voice to replace all of them. Anyone who thinks their favorite party has their best interests at heart is not paying attention.
Thanks for the report on BoA. I also have a BoA Visa and haven't had that happen, but will now be even more vigilent about it.

After reading this post and a few others composed by we_rv I have had to step back and reconsider the issues which the above post relates much better than I have found the words to express.
I will admit that often my adamant anger at unethical business practices finds itself manifested in some of my posts. As mentioned above, in the old days a persons word was gold and a contract was mealy a recording of the transaction.
Unfortunately and sadly, today it seems even a mutual contract is suspect and open to challenge. It would seem the winds and whims of big business (and often government entities) control all issues and the individual, regardless of standing, it held meaningless.
Thus, I have to admit that due to the mobility of society and the requirements of conducting one's affairs in these times some of the financial products and instruments offered by these unscrupulous institutions are needed to satisfactory conduct commerce.
However, that does not grant these same untrue and misleading institutions free license to steal from constituents.

I also have BoA and haven't had any problems YET. However I do my banking online and login to the BoA site the day after my closing date and schedule my payment from my checking account a couple days before the due date. They will send me an e-mail alert when my statement is available. Haven't missed a payment in 10 yrs. I also use Yodlee to track all my accounts. Yodlee sells this service to many banks and they offer it to their customers. Its a free service and I get an up to date status on all my credit cards and other accounts like State Farm, Charter, Elect.
