I know it wasn't as much about the RVs, but it was an interesting show, when you started to look at the interactions between the families and within the families.
The winning family, that won $100K and other prizes, was from NY, and was probably the most disfunctional family on the show, in the beginning. They really seemed to be more about the "vacation" than the "Game".
The second place family was just the opposite....very competitive and probably too focused on the prize than the trip.
Something to be learned from that....it's the journey, not the destination....as I'm sure many of you have already realized.
In fact, it was the winning families enjoyment with their photo album and looking back at their trip, that ultimately helped them win!
I found several things on last nights show interesting. I am sure that the Producers clipped things together, to make it look this way, but it really looked as if the Coote Family (2nd place) would have run over their own kids, to win the prize. I'm sure that isn't the case, but they did just about plow over the other family's Mother in Law at the airport! The also seemed to show the Disalvitores (sp) in a much better light in the last few episodes....how they would offer their room to the other families, making a toast to the group, etc.
As much as I disliked this family from NY in the beginning, I really began to cheer them on at the end.....we just began to dislike the Coote Family.....though they did seem to come around after the show, and said a few nice things.....once the competition was over!
Yes it was a game....with a very nice prize at the end, but it was also an interesting study in human relationships, and we found that to make the show worth while!! I hope others felt the same way.
Now, I wonder how much they are asking for slightly used Class A motorhomes, that were driven on Route 66-

I read, on another forum, that the guy from NY, was a ringer for NBC. He has been seen on other reality shows. I voted him the most disliked character on the show.

El Monte will probably leave them as is and charge a higher rental rate for them.

My opinion only, but I would not want to be in the same campground with any of these people.
These shows get their ratings based on the amount of "drama" and controversy. So they choose the wierdos and dysfunctionals. Then they stir in some exhibitionist ex-cheerleaders and "poof" you got a hit show.
An extra added attraction is if someone gets hurt or injured. Heck if someone blew up a trailer, they would have a monster blockbuster hit show.
It might be interesting to interview the camp hosts after they left.

as in many other "reality"shows a lot is scripted with retakes and do-overs.I don't watch them I would rather do the trip myself than watch actors pretend they were.

It's all in the editing. Shoot everything, then tell the story you want to tell. Makes for an interesting diversion, but this show had nothing to do with RVing. Notice that most of the King of the Road "prizes" were spending a night in a nice hotel!

Would have enjoyed the show more. If they had shown some of the mishaps they had along the way. Newbies in a MH first time. No idea what they are doing and how to do it.
Desalvitor was a real jerk most of the show. More worried about his hair than anything else.
All us Italians are not like him.
