RE: BU programs for O/S restore/repair

Im not looking to violate copyright laws or anything similar. Id just like to be able to insert a DVD and reinstall the default or my custom tweaked version.

fj12ryder,
It very well may do what I want, but want is a good easy to use program. Ive never used Ghost, but they used it at GE while I was there.
Is there a simple BU program that can do the same?

RE: can 30 amps run 2 13500 ACs

Hi
I have 30 amp plug at my house and a class A with 50 amp plug and 2 13500 ACs. I know I can run one AC, and rest of house. Can I run refrig and hot water off gas and run both ACs off my 30 plug?
Thanks
Maybe. The best way to tell is try it. You should not harm anything if it fails other than trip a breaker.

RE: Verizon 4G LTE hotspot

From the thread title do you have a Verizon Mifi? If so why are you using a router?
You can flush your DNS and start fresh. It will be rebuilt automatically on next run.
ipconfig /flushdns
http://docs.cpanel.net/twiki/bin/view/AllDocumentation/ClearingBrowserCache
A couple additional command line commands you can issue are for your network adapter:
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew

BU programs for O/S restore/repair

For years I have isolated the O/S from programs and data files by installing programs on non-C: drives. I realize some files will always be applied on the C drive but I keep it to a minimal.
Im not familiar with BU programs but I do backup but I do BU data files as I have lots of disk space available.
What I would like to know is a simple step-by-step process of capturing the O/S after a fresh installation and any customization I may make.
I know I can save the contents of the Desktop for the layout and short cuts I create and I have the installation disks for all the programs I use.
What are some of the best and simple utilities for BU of the O/S? Id like to be able to restore the O/S on demand anytime I might have a problem or be hit with a virus. This might be much like "Ghost". Can this be accomplished with a BU utility?
When I would do this Id like to reformat the c: drive and put back a good clean O/S.
Just 2 weeks ago I had one that changed the file attributes to hidden and system. When I tried to view my other drives (which I have several) they all appeared blank. It was scary. The virus didnt touch the C: drive but since that time a couple issues surfaced.
- I could not do a Factory Image Restore - received an error - no error message - just a blank box titled Error with the red X and an OK button to dismiss.
- I could not run Java applets - just failed - no error in the error console
- I didnt have an old enough System Restore Point that would fix the problem.
Id just like to capture the C: drive, save on a DVD and insert it when I want to refresh my O/S.

RE: Java on my computer question??? (UPDATE)

Java and JavaScript are not the same thing.
Java is a programming language typically using an Applet tag to present the Java program within an HTML page. Java produces a program much like compiled source code for Windows but used in HTML pages.
JavaScript is a scripting language (pure text) that is used within HTML applying JavaScript, Anchor and many other HTML tags.
JavaScript: void(0); is javascript. Going to the Java page link above wont do any good - its not the same.
Lots of JavaScript here:
http://www.lissaexplains.com/fun3.shtml
Java applets here:
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/applets-139976.html
Do you have page/link that you can post for others to try?

RE: Transmission oil change

The objective is to use the transmission pump to move the fluid and dispose of the old and replace with new.

RE: Transmission oil change

Any of the Speedy Lube or the like have a displacement machine that will change all the fluid - about 18 qts.
If you want to do it yourself this is how I do mine.
- remove the output hose at the radiator (bottom) from the transmission
- connect a rubber extension about 12"-15" long to reach an empty 1 gallon fluid container (this may be any tubing to extend the copper tubing to assist in draining into a 1 gallon container)
- start the motor and when 1 gallon has been dispensed, refill thru the upper fill/check tube under the hood
- using the newly emptied 1 gallon bottle use it to catch the next 1 gallon dispensed - repeat until you have dispensed 4 gallons
- top it off if it is low
Dispose of fluid at any autoparts store.
You are done.

This is the same procedure as described here (with some minor tweaks). Smokey is a highly respected contributor on the Dieselstop.com forum.

RE: Window 7. Can't run back up

If you havent installed any new programs or made any major changes lately you might consider doing a System Restore then run your backup again.
The System Restore will only modifies Windows files - not your data files. You might have to reinstall any programs installed after the date of your restore. I never have had to and Ive restored several times. Everything worked as expected.

Are you referring to doing these steps? You might restart your browser and go thru the steps again.

RE: 3G vs 4G...AT&T

The biggest most important difference is speed. There are also lots more apps for 4G devices but I suspect those are secondary to why someone would want to pay for the upgrade.
Just be aware that if they say you are going to get 4G that the system will automatically roll back to 3G if 4G is not available. They will not tell you - but you will know by the speed.
My point is you wont lose service if 4G is not available - but will get 3G without you knowing.

RE: Do I need slider or not?

The auto sliders have dropped in price pretty significantly. With their reduced cost and the adapters that fit the Reese/Valley/Husky etc rails and the fact that almost any contact with the cab will offset the slider hitch costs.

PayPal should work the same for any monetary exchanges regardless of the site. Problem is PayPal wasnt really involved. The buyer took over as if he was PayPal and represented them in all transactions.
