RE: Des Moines paper reporting attempted purchase of Winnebago

These "bad" equity firms have saved several casino/hotels in Las Vegas. Plus they are restarting work on several that were shut down in the construction phase. Companies gambled and failed, the bad boys stepped in and saved them. Also, think Staples, etc.,. True that many businesses had no chance and the equity firm piecemealed them, but they were going under regardless.

RE: Installing New "secondary" A/C unit

Maybe you are making it much harder than necessary...Just keeping the sun from striking your coach, like with a cheap shade structure, should solve your problem. It's a lot cheaper and much faster.

RE: Des Moines paper reporting attempted purchase of Winnebago

Really not sure what the outcome would be. First, and the worst, Winnebago would eventually go under. Second, there could be built-in legalese to keep the RV portion alive. Third, assembling chinese cars would help employment in Forrest City. Fourth, and a really long shot, outside experts could be brought in to make Winnebago think on how to dramatically increase quality and be the number one RV manufacturer. (I own a 08 Tour and it is great) But let's face it, the industry just chugs along and only makes changes when competition forces them.

Getting spammed with Norton installed.

My DW and I have Norton installed in each computer and are "lynksed". The spam is appearing on my computer and not hers. The spam appears in the body of whatever is up. Hers has a blank space where my spam appears. DW has windows 7 and I have Vista. The spam started showing up about two months ago and now it is out of control. E-mailed Norton, no reply. Is there anything simple I can do to stop or slow it down ? Kerry

RE: Las Vegas to Palm Springs Route

To the OP: Stay on the interstate all the way. Some of the shortcuts" road have no shoulder. It's mostly loose sand along side the road. You wander off, and Bucko, you are a goner.

RE: 2 or 3 air conditioners in a 41' DP

Believe it or not, color has a lot to do with it. AN all black coach's requrements are a lot more than an all white one's cooling requirements.

RE: Fuel / water drain sucked air instead of draining

A new coach. Having to jerryrig it for routine maintaince? The real question is why does the OP have to jump through hoops ? Sorry, I don't get it.

RE: comparing 2011 Tour to 2012 Tour (42QDs)

Thank you everyone who replied. It's pretty much as I thought after a LOT of research. kjburns: Having followed your replies I know you traded an 08 Tour for a 2011. Your advice on the Kingdome was invaluable, thanks. (us: 08 Tour also) PittPaBus: Good thoughts on the front axle/tires, thanks. Wny__pat: "Get used to it" is what Mike Tyson said when he let loose with a tremendous left hook. I declined. (Everything we have is DirectTV) Kerry

comparing 2011 Tour to 2012 Tour (42QDs)

Been doing some hard looking between a "new" 2011 Tour and a "new" 2012 Winnie Tour. There is a huge differece in price. The only BIG difference I see is the 2012 has IFS, and some other lesser things. (larger steering tires). Noticed the TV dome is Dish specific..What's up with that? I would certainly appreciate any and all comments. Thanks, Kerry

RE: best diesel fuel stops, I-15 in So CA to I-70 in UT, ??

One of the best off-on is in the northern part of St George, UT. It's a texico station right at the exit. Just enter with as much of a 45 degree angle as you can. The pumps all the way right (north) are the ones we use. When leaving just go straight ahead around the convenience store and circle around the store and you are on pavement, with a left turn to a traffic light. Get in the right of the two turns that go left, Go through the light and a quick right will put you back on I-15 north. On I-70 there is another texico around Green River. It's on the right and possibly the easiest off/on I've ever encountered.

RE: Wind

Something not mentioned: Suppose the worst happens, that's sort of what you are asking, and the MH receives severe damage. The insurance adjuster ask if you knew about the possibility of strong winds, flying debris, etc.,.? If you had hurricane (or similiar) insurance... you are okay. Then you are warned and had the ability to move away from danger? that's another story and I'll have to get back to the main office about your claim. Just a possible downside, others will jump in. RE: Valley of Fire SP, Nevada

LittleJimmy: I had a good natured chuckle at your "quite a ways" assessment. The closest city to Las Vegas is Phoenix = 250 miles, Las Angeles = 300 miles. So distance is in the eye of the beholder. lol

2gypsies: You are correct about everything. The OP has a nice big dog. I could just let mine run freely, which she enjoyed.

RE: Valley of Fire SP, Nevada

When I was there last it was an unattended RV park. Actually a one way loop. Go with lots of small bills as you put your money in an envelope and a ranger comes by in the morning. You are mixed in with tent campers,5th wheels, etc. I always stayed almost completely around the loop in a back-in spot. You must disconnect the towed. Depending on circumstances you can let your puppy off leash. My dearly missed puppy loved climbing the rock hills by the RV.
