RE: Ford V10 Tuners

I would do the 5 Star or Brazell's first before even considering exhaust mod's. Just my 2 cents.

RE: Trac bar (panhard bar)

IMO track bar with leaf springs won't make much of a difference. Coil spring or air suspensions needs a track bar.
With today's longer leaf springs with fewer leafs, I would disagree with your conclusion.
Track bars/Panhard rods ARE effective on these applications. It is as Brett says, with the longer and fewer leafs trac or panhard bars are effective.

RE: wondering if i should buy a 82 winnebago chieftain

After thoroughly checking for water leaks, and then rechecking again... If you are comfortable with condition of engine and trans and everything else, go for it. At that price it can be a good learning experience. Our first MH, was over 20 years old and 25K in mileage and we had it for 3 years and 20K and the most expensive repair we had was the airbags in the front springs. 454's and 400 trans are very reliable.

RE: new 6 volt coach batteries

Jerry, if that is all you use them for then go for it. There is another reason to use 12V' batteries also, and that is if one of your 6V's goes out and you only have two 6V's like most gassers, you still will have lights, the refrigerator and furnace operational.

RE: tracking

It seems I have seen this question before many times, IT WILL HELP. Does it make it perfect? Of course not, but it definitely helps.

RE: increasing psi causing rough ride

Sully 2 said:
100% CORRECTO!!! I see the comment about higher load range / less pressure all the time and have to wonder WHERE did people get thta idea???
On the R4R we had, we went up a tire size/load range to get more capacity at a lower pressure. It also seemed to roll through some of the irregularities better. For instance, according to the Goodyear inflation chart, a 295/80R22.5 LR G will carry 6810lbs at 105lbs pressure. A 315/80R22.5 LR H will carry 6940lbs at 95lbs pressure. This assumes that you have all the clearances underneath and on the duals to do this, and we did. You are starting out at less air pressure cold for a little softer ride and get to just over the starting pressure of the smaller tire when hot. These were not the sizes we used, I do not remember what they were. So it can be done and is done safely and correctly. Maybe there is such a thing that the Dunlops do not have a very flexible sidewall either, just a thought. I never have figured out how the cars with the large shiny wheels and tires with 1" side walls can have any ride at all. Hope this may help. Happy Trails Bert
Huge difference in what you did and what was stated. Going up in load range and keeping the SAME tires size DOES NOT allow you to lower the tire pressure for a smoother ride.
Changing tire size is entirely different and a change that a lot of people cannot do because of dual tire spacing.CORRECT!
This all reminds me of the guy who is sent to the store to buy apples for an apple pie, and he comes home with oranges because they were on sale.

RE: steering and handeling

Weigh it (four corners, preferred), then inflate it for the weight, then drive it. Any changes?

RE: 1985 southwind

The formula for determining gallon capacity is L x W x D divided by 231.
Hopefully batteries that it has are 12v, other wise somebody has did some rewiring, for whatever reason. A GP24 12v deep cycle is no larger than a regular GP 24.

RE: Tire size confusion?

If your rim width and clearance are satisfactory on the duals I would stick to the 255/70's also. They are a little shorter and a little wider, and can be found in higher weight capacity rating. Because of the fact of being shorter, they do turn more revolutions per mile, around 20 I believe.

RE: Need Advice! Class A Gas Steering & Sway!

97' F53 chassis, 32' Southwind, approximate weight ready for travel is 15K.
1st - Rear air bags (75 psi) and poly sway bar bushings front and rear. Helped considerably.
2nd - Steer Safe. More improvement.
3rd - FSD's in front, no help with anything, except a lighter pocketbook.
4th - Front air bags (25 psi). Ride is enjoyable now for an F53.:b
Because I have too much time on my hands, I am experimenting with a DIY front trac bar. I cannot tell if it has helped anything, as there was so little movement left from trucks passing.

RE: Construction debris under cabinets

Give anybody a hammer, pliers and a saw and they will leave debris of one kind or another behind. It is NOT just the RV construction industry. It happens all the time in home construction also. I have had 4 homes built in my life, in every one of them upon final inspection have had to make the general contractor's send someone out to pick up the garbage from under the house.
Have been TOO afraid to look under the cabinets.:b

Stick with an oil that can be purchased 24/7 just about anywhere while traveling.

RE: Are "SECONDARY" highways fine for RV traveling?

We go out of our way to avoid interstates. Last year, fairly typical, less than 500 miles out of 5000 was on interstates. Enjoy the small towns and the scenery is generally better.

RE: Buying an RV that has been full timed for 3 years

A person who is willing to buy tickets to fly out and buy something is NOT a tire kicker, have you seen the prices being charged by airlines? Common sense and due diligence go a long ways and you are showing you have both. The equipment on most RV's in my opinion tend to last longer if they are used then if they are idle, so buying an RV that has been full timed in would not bother me at all.

RE: steer safe

As previously mentioned turning to the wheel stops stresses a power steering system to the max, and any noises generated are fairly normal. As to a Steer Safe causing any additional hissing noises, only in one's imagination.
