RE: HELP! EMERGENCY! NEED HELP NOW!

first question, do they have power? You should have a crank to manually slide them if it is a power issue. Or is something jammed..? Did you open compartments and look up? Also, something jammed inside??

what about those people who stop fulltiming?

I have seen this question asked in various forms on this forum with few answers. Most people who stop full timing don't participate here. Well we bought a house in an active 55+ community in florida, so we no longer fulltime, just use the MH for 6 months. But the interesting thing is, we have met numerous people who have fulltimed for 3-7 years. All loved it, traveled extensively and then wanted a house(more space). No one said that the fulltiming was a bad thing. The up shot is, go for the fulltime, have a plan to get when you are ready, or have to.

RE: Trip of A Lifetime

I read your note and enjoyed thinking about it for a couple of days. Here are my thoughts; when you are visiting the east coast you will be visiting a number of large cities. Use tour buses, trolleys, or on off buses. You want to see the "big spots" and they take you to them, tell you where to get the great pics and allow you to get off and visit the places. I know you will get lots of ideas of specific places to visit so here are a couple of more ideas. Visit Savannah or Charleston to see a southern city. So cool. Then of course, Washinton DC, Philadelphia, NYC, Boston and Chicago. Each of those cities have great public tourist transportation, so stay outside and use the public transportation. easy breezy.. Niagra falls will take you past the Adirondack Mt. in NYS, and then the fingerlakes. After the Falls, Cleveland to see Rock and Roll hall of fame. This is such an amazing country, enjoy the trip.

RE: washington DC?

there is a spy museum, not part of the smithsonian so you pay, but they set your family up to "find things" in DC. very cool for the kids. Also the Newsseum. Artifacts of news events. again very interesting and again a museum you have to pay for. Changing of the gaurd at the tomb of the unknown soldiers.

RE: EZ pass questions

in new york, the ezpass stays with the vehicle, unlike the florida sun pass that you can move from vehicle to vehicle. Correct information you do not have to live in a state to get the ezpass from that state..they will be happy to take your money. We have 2 transponders, one for the MH, and it is set up for us to be towning our car, and 1 for the car alone. when we are towing the car we take the transponder out of the car window and put it in its sleeve to prevent it from transmitting. Hope this helps..

RE: Saratoga Springs NY trip

we like arrowhead marina and rv park in schenectady..nothing for kids..but a nice place to park . it is adistence from the track, and less expensive than those closer to the rtrack.

bought a house

so we are no longer fulltimers. We fulltimed for 3 years..loved every minute of traveling, but sitting still for 3-4 months in a 37 foot mh in warm weather in the winter drove us nuts. We bought a 2 bedroom 2 bath home in florida, so we can have company during the winter months. family and friends, (noncampers) have already started looking at flights..yeah! Have not sold the rig, will travel in the summer, spring fall and continue to enjoy life. As an aside to those getting ready to go on the road, the stuff we kept in peoples attics etc cause we could not bear to part with it or thought we might use if we bought a house..we we do not want it. Does not go with our southern home, and differnt lifestyle.

RE: sampson state park, best sites

when we stay in sampson, we like loop 5. agree most sites are level or very little work to be level. The finger lakes are great! Don't forget the wineries and cheese farms. should be some farm stands open as well.

RE: Planing a long trip, Advice please.

If I am reading the OP right you are not worried about storage as much as living space on cold rainy days. I am thinking not everything you will want to do requires great weather, and you may still want to get out on the rainy days. What about museums.. If you are looking to "get a feel" for each place you are staying for awhile local historic meuseums, and industrial museums will give you more information and insight into the area. Then there is frequently very nice art museums too.

RE: whale watch

i am always surprised how many and how close we come to whales on our trips. I was afraid it was going to be one of those "see that grey little speck out there" thats your whale and it never has been. Enjoy and it is a little cool all year in Maine.. remember a jacket!

RE: what do you bring when you temporarily move out of your rig?

One of the things we realized we needed to have with us is our insurance information. We (the rig) were evacuated from our campground this summer (flooding) and we were not there. If something had happened and they had not gotten the rig out, we needed to have had insurance company name, number and our acct number. That now goes everywhere with us.

RE: Grand Canyon trip 2012

we reallly enjoyed the westward museum under the arch in St. Louis, and there is a great art museum in St. Louis also. Night hawk (I think that is the name) and the american gothic are both there. Hopefully 2 days there??

RE: can't decide if I am mad at me or them

thanks for all the comments.. as i said.. i am mad at myself as well as them for the situation. I was obviously upset when i got there.. A little tlc for me would have gone a long way. We travel full time and know how to read maps, etc.. and just did not do our work as well as we should have. I was venting as many people do. The directions did say..10 miles south of Boone on route 105 and that is where you will find it. I would have preferred more signage.. Just my 2 cents and my rv parks review will not be negative just a note about the signage.

RE: can't decide if I am mad at me or them

No problem with the site..just with the people.. customer service lacking, and it makes a difference to me.
