RE: 2013 Ram 1500 offers new V6 option & new 8 speed option.

Been gone awhile. Enjoyed a nice break. I see the Ford boys haven't changed, only the names. Same desire to discredit anything not Ford, and talk up anything that is Ford. Even the 6.0 PSD......

RE: "Band-Aid" available for the 2013 Ram 1500 "mushy" rear coils!!!

Folks I've talked to with the new Ram 1500 love the smooth ride of their trucks. I look forward to reading the comments from folks here who tow with one.

I doubt it kills Ram sales. Time will tell.

High priced devices on modern pickups are a fact of life with all manufacturers. Not saying I like it. It is what it is.

According to the link I posted earlier, all accessories will continue to operate while the engine is in stop mode. How? Unless the AC is operated by electricity (Prius style). I assume that is the case. Not exactly impossible to achieve.

MPG of 5.7 Hemi 1500 2wd as per EPA: 14 City 16 Combined 19 Highway cycle. This info is incorrect. Highway mpg of the ram 1500 2wd Hemi is 20 mpg as per EPA. http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/Find.do?action=sbs&id=30457

RE: 2013 Ram 1500 offers new V6 option & new 8 speed option.

I think for me....the 'stop & start' technology would...although a fuel saving benefit...annoy the hell out of me!Same here. Also, all that unnecessary use of the starter will surely wear it out much quicker. As well, a lot of the wear on an engine occurs at start-up, so there is a lot of unnecessary wear on the engine re-starting it at every stop light. You would be incorrect to assume the engineers have not taken this into consideration. From info at allpar, the starter will be specially designed for this purpose. http://www.allpar.com/model/ram/dodge/2013-ram-powertrain.html Also, I believe cold startup is much more damaging than warm startup. I suspect this will be a non issue, but time will tell. I'm not saying I'm sold on start stop. I agree it may be annoying, and I worry about long term durability of the related systems that make it possible. We will see.

I'm currently enjoying such a break myself. Best of luck to you!

RE: Well we went and did it..

Excellent choice! Both the truck and the car! The 2012 Avenger and Chrysler 200 are very nice sedans, much improved versus the previous Avenger/Sebring combo.

RE: ram integrated brake controller

Not sure what year but I've read many have had problems with the stock IBC. It can be locked out with a P3 if needed. Best EB in stock testing, about 180 hp of braking. Yes tow/haul to lock out overdrive. It's my understanding that tow/haul does much more than just lock out overdrive.

RE: what diesel years/engines to avoid?

LOL I'm sure Ric has already received and payed his NEW insurance premium rates after a nice $12k claim. Keep holding your breath Newsw and you too will turn blue as in oval :B The last laugh is not here yet. Insurance companies bundle up the claims, and when they get enough of them, they figure out (on their own evidence) who is responsible... like Ford and send them a bill. Take my word for it, it will be done eventually. Ford, upon receipt, will pay the bill. Whether they will stick it back to Bosch is the next question. If that were to actually happen (which I doubt), it still does NOTHING to change the poor treatment ricatic received from Fords customer service dept. He has every right to be angry, and doubtful of their good intentions.

RE: Lets see your tow vehicle do this.......

From my point of view having to twist wrenches on my wife's Citation, the bad reputation was deserved. Ours was not a great car.

RE: Who makes the best all around TV, (pick-up)

Your backseat info regarding Dodge is incorrect. The Ram Quadcab has more room than the GM and Ford extended cabs. The Quadcab is just an extended cab with the doors opening the other way. The newest Rams also have a full crew cab that is as roomy as the competition, but even the used 2010s are probably out of your price range. The Ram MegaCab(only available as 2500 and 3500 now) has NO equal for backseat room. Since you are focusing on used trucks, the Ram 1500 MegaCab was available prior to 2009. It is essentially a 2500 with softer springs. Drive them all and buy the one that suits your needs.

RE: Paint old faithful

GM paid to have my 80's truck repainted because of bad primer. Ten years later still looked great. It was a $1200 paint job in the early 90's, so it depends on the shop's capability. Paint has been improved a lot since then too. Is that new math? Early 90's to me would be about 18-22 years ago. :B. All in good fun friend. Jerem I don't see anything wrong with his math. Please explain.

RE: Eastwood thread??

lets see, Chrysler, American resurgence, etc. isn't Chrysler 58% owned by Fiat? :S bumpy The thousands of Chrysler employees in the US, and the Chrysler headquarters in Auburn Hills, are grateful to Sergio Marchionne for leading them on the path to recovery. He gave them a chance with proper research and development that resulted in competitive products, and they are showing what Americans can do when given a chance to build a great product that sells well. I'd say yeah, the commercial is relevant and accurate.

RE: Eastwood thread??

Perhaps Mr. Eastwood is a fan of more than one brand. Just because he made a movie about a Gran Torino doesn't mean he's sworn to worship only the mighty blue oval.

RE: Ford 6.7 debacle just gets crazier

Why does Ford keep stepping on the d&^k with their Diesel engines - they have not made a good since the 7.3! And yet the faithful keep buying them - go figure. This statement makes the top 10 most pompuos statements I've read here to date! You are new here. You ain't seen nothin yet.

RE: Are duallies much more stable than singles ?

73-79 will FOREVER be my favorite Fords. Lots of great memories from my younger days and camping/fishing trips taken with relatives now passed in several Fords from that era. Dad had a 73 and a 79, uncle had a 73, Grandpa had a 76, and my first truck was a 77. Great old trucks!! I know, off topic. Sorry!!

RE: Good news for Chrysler, looks like things are turning around

If Fiat is the answer, it must be a stupid question. Chrysler/Fiat will be heading to the bankruptcy/bailout trough again, the only question is when. Chrysler has it's hand out for another loan right now ($3.5 Billion) Not due to any financial difficulties. The company is turning profits, and you can click the links in this thread for proof. If your post is an attempt to show Chrysler needs another bailout, you are sadly mistaken. Post us a link regarding this loan you reference please.
