RE: Personal Question $$$

Own two - paid off the first in two years and paid cash for the second. But we still keep throwing money in their direction just for the fun of it!!

RE: Handy Hints, Gadgets, Products & Gizmos

I use the smaller type of those square plastic bags with zippers to store my underwear. Without enough drawer space, I can easily slip this in and out of an upper cupboard. Works for lots of things.

RE: Leaving home for long time

When we are gone for three months at a time I fill the refrigerator with containers of water and fill the freezer with containers of ice cubes. A full refrig and freezer run less than when they are empty. Be sure to contain the ice cubes in case the electricity goes off.

RE: Handy Hints, Gadgets, Products & Gizmos

Just squeeze the toilet paper and paper towel rolls a bit to "flatten" them and they wlll only roll when you want them to.

RE: Handy Hints, Gadgets, Products & Gizmos

Instead of an accordion file taking up 8" of drawer space, I use lids as protectors between stacked pots and pans.

RE: Why no RV TV show?

Filming inside an RV would be really difficult for any extended length of time.

Rover, after a dear departed dog. It just fit on so many levels.

RE: Why no cheap no frills overnight w/elec offered?

On our trip to Florida just last month we noticed a couple of "Interstate RV" places in Tenn and Georgia. They were basic gravel lots just off the interstate with electrical posts and a small toilet building. They were not in the camping guide so we were not heading for them. But they looked like what the OP was asking for. I have no idea what they were charging.

RE: Rv Insurance - Suggestions Please

We had Progressive when we lost our 24' Born Free in a flood. The adjustor told us not to accept a low offer from the company. He said he would back us knowing we had lost a really nice vehicle. We settled at a good price and then I cancelled the policy (since we no longer had an RV) and they refunded most of that money. We are with them again.

RE: Other than outdoor showers, what don't you use (and why?)

We stopped carrying the ladder. And we removed the bathroom door which was always in the way and stored it for future buyers. We can pull the shower curtain across for privacy instead.

Bertnspike, You may get a better response if you make this a separate topic, perhaps on a technical forum - especially if you identify your vehicle in the title. Otherwise - the mental image of your contortions did make me smile.

If you have a leak and the pump is on it will keep pumping water into whatever. It is always a good idea to shut off the water pump when you are not in the motorhome - especially if you will be gone for a long time.

RE: Xantrex inverter-charger problem: advice needed

David looked on the internet for local electrical repairs, picked out this company and called them and explained our problem and they said they were able to deal with it. We told them there was no hurry in getting it done. When we did occasionally call to check on it, they had done some further investigation and then finally found the problem. We believe they had spent a lot of time figuring this out for us. We are happy with the work, the cost and the time it took.

We are home. The motorhome is in Norway. We are in Minneapolis with a very heavy Xantrax.

RE: Xantrex inverter-charger problem: advice needed

Problem finally diagnosed and fixed. Today we finally picked up our fixed Xantrax converter charger from an electrical repairman. He found two bad MOSFATs - I thought he was making it up - but they are metal oxide semiconductor field-effect transistors. He had it all wired up to show us that it was working as it was meant to work. It only took him 6 months to find the problem - all this for $300. Our next job will be figuring out how to get it packed for shipping, getting it past the TSA, getting it to Lillehammer and actually installing it again. Thanks for all the suggestions. We don't leave until May 1st this year.

RE: Handy Hints, Gadgets, Products & Gizmos

Another idea on this concept of keeping everything together is the shower bags we have. We almost always use the campground showers. We each have our own bag with appropriate plastic bottles of body wash and shampoo, flip flops or shower shoes, scrubber, towel and anything else we might regularly use. They also have a large hook in case the shower stall is really without a shelf, bench or hook. I also have a shower dress that I wear so I don't have to mess with socks or slacks on a wet floor. We hang the towels up when we return and put them back in the bag when they are dry. A place for everything and everything in its place/keep it simple.

RE: How do you enjoy the city RVing?

We also like cities and museums. That's why our motorhome is in Europe. There are campgrounds and wonderful public transportation everywhere. It is very easy to get around. Someday we will bring it home and see the US. We highly recommend it.

RE: Whats a good length and brand?

We spend three months at a time in or 24' Rear Bath Bornfree. It takes a few seconds to flip the couch into a comfy bed. We travel without a car and have little trouble finding laces to park.

RE: Handy Hints, Gadgets, Products & Gizmos

The expanding refrigerator bars make a great temporary towel bar when attached wherever it works. I put mine across the top of the bathroom door opening or inside above the sink.
