RE: New Oxygenics Shower Head

Ok now I see why yours stays put, you got an Alpenlite and like our old Alpie has solid residential style shower plumbing. We moved to a Montana which like a lot of 5ers already had the hose and sprayer attached to the wall with just s small holder for the sprayer. We don't have the shower spout up above but it comes out of the diverter from below with just a holder up above. Even screwed and taped I doubt the holder is gonna hold on to the bouncing around. I reckon it will be another place for the use of velcro lol.
yeah yeah I know, shoulda stayed with the Alpenlite lol lol....

RE: City rules about overnighting...not happy

Az is a high snowbirding area. If you look at the map of Walmart locations that do or do not allow overnighting, you will see a lot of Az has red which means the Walmarts do not allow overnighting. Walmart locations If you look at Fl. you will see the same thing, lots of red. Why.....could be because they are both high snowbird areas. Could be they were having toooo many peoples coming in and staying in Walmart lots and not just overnighting. Since most of the camp grounds are so crowded in those areas any ways I doubt they would have gone to the expense to engage in a court battle to change city ordinances. They already have more customers then they can handle, just try to find a place to stay for even a couple days right now in either state in an RV park. Here in Texas, it is getting just as hard to find a place to stay espcially in the RGV. Probably another reason for the ban since it is hard to find a place to stay in the winter. I know the Walmart campers will be along and spout off bout its their "right" to camp there, but when people abuse the "priviledge" offered by Walmart then you leave municipalities no choice but to pass ordinances prohibiting staying in parking lots. Now don't get me wrong I use Walmarts and CB's etc when I travel too, but I never stay for more then a few hours to get some rest to move on. But if you look at any area where there is a high number of tourists or is an RV destination, you will see the ordinances prohibiting camping in lots.

RE: New Oxygenics Shower Head

We just changed to one also. Don't care how much water it uses we wanted the pressure, the factory one just didnt cut it. How does everyone travel with it though. We bought the holder recommended but I can see traveling down the road it will not stay up in air. The bouncing is gonna make it droop down if you know what I mean, then it's gonna bounce out. The Oxyie is very heavy and don't want it flailing around in the shower. Even if it stays in the holder I can see where it's heavy enough that bouncing down the hwy it will eventually rip the holder off the wall even with the screws.

RE: 5th Wheel Floorplans

We were looking for the same things but we wanted 2 recliners. Found the Montana 3000RK which only has 2 slides but keeps the weight down. Even with only 2 slides it feels very large inside. The only problem we found is you cannot get into the frig with the slide in.

RE: Dw upset

I agree I doubt she'll see a new trailer out of this. But yes take it back to the dealer and let him clean it, this is something he is probably used to doing anyways. Now if it don't come out then he will either offer to replace the panels or if not that serious of a stain you may get something like your first bearing greasing done free or what ever you're having installed right now done for free etc. But I agree the black stain is the worse, the mattress stain is hard to see and the trim, well thats normal for some manufactors.

RE: Should c-pap settings be reevaluated occasionally?

My Doc said I should have a new sleep study every few years or if I have a drastic weight change. Myself I know when I am not getting the sleep I need. As long as I am still dreaming things are good. Now if I realize I am not dreaming anymore that is when I will go in for a sleep study, or if I ever lose some weight. But if your getting really tired during the day and it is because your apnea has gotten worse then you are probably not dreaming. Oh and my original doctor is the one who told me bout the dreaming thing....:Z

RE: Dish network

The biggest problem here is Dish.... When you go to their web site it is in Latin or Greek or something. You can never find the correct info or rates. If someone could go to their site and click on RV service and it would give you the rates and info on what you have to do to get one in an RV that would be fantastic. But it is just over and over, page to page of buy Direct TV, buy Direct TV, Direct TV is wonderful, but no useful info for RV's. This shows in all the different stories of ways people have Direct in their RV's.

RE: New or Used TT?

Until I hit the lottery I will not buy new. As soon as it is driven off the lot you take a heck of a hit on the cost of the RV or any vehicle for that matter. I mean you're talking thousands of dollars. If you look long and hard you can find late model anything that has not been used or in new condition. I just bought a 06 Montana that lived in a barn and was used very little. It looks new inside and out. My last 5er an 03 Alpenlite also used very little in fact the stove and oven were not used at all, the microwave still had the plate and books still wrapped in plastic. But you got to know what you're looking at and you got to take your time and check everything. it's the same with vehicles. Now if it makes you nervous buying used then you can always buy an extended warranty and still come out ahead. Now just as soon as I hit the lotto, heck then I'll walk on the lot and write the checks.

RE: Android travelled through the washing machine!

Wife dropped hers into a cup of coffee only 2 weeks old and spent the afternoon there..don't ask lol lol....but we did everything from blowing it out with compressed air to a week or 2 in rice but it was DOA....I think the length of time it is submerged has something to do with getting it back.

RE: Are duallies much more stable than singles ?

No, didn't do 60 but we did a fast 20 mph lol. There were places I was worried it would come up to the underside of the trailer or doors on the truck. There were several exit ramps where people were sitting on the roofs of their cars as it was up to the windows. Never seen an Interstate so flooded. But either way I have towed the same trailer with a single and my dually and yes I would take the dually everytime. I was that guy that had a single and it was good and what the heck do I need a dually for? If you just go camping at the lake down the road a single would be your best choice. But if you put a lot of long distant miles on every year then you'll love the dually. But there is a difference.

RE: Are duallies much more stable than singles ?

OH OH OH I know th answer to this one cause I just changed from a 2500 to a 3500 dually. My 2500 would tow my 12000 Lb 5er just fine and we did so all over in all kinds of weather. But now that I have the dually life is so much better. I just put 500 miles on the rig in the last 2 weeks and even in heavy Dallas and Houston traffic, even in the major storm Houston had 2 weeks ago complete with tornado and a foot of water on the Interstate, the new truck handled it superb. Out on the road it is a very relaxing tow. And even when not towing it is not that much of a problem around town like I thought it would be. I love my dually even if she does have a big butt....

Why go north of Houston? If you go an hour south you can camp on the beach at several parks in and around Galveston.

RE: trailer tires for 5th wheel

Hmmmm, there is a reason a lot of the higher end trailers come from the factory with LT tires instead of ST. They are more concerned with customer satisfaction then cost. My Alpenlite was one with LT tires from the factory. If you have a tire dealer that will not put or does not recomend LT tires for a trailer that is within the weight for them I would find a new dealer. Hmmm wonder why they use the same tires on small dump trucks and other heavy trucks. Think McFly think,,, Some 30+ ft motor homes have 16 inch LT tires on them, my Bounder was one of them. Are there any rants or long threads on LT tires blowing out???? I am sure there have been blow outs just not in numbers ST tires do. If you want to continue to gamble with ST tires there will continue to be these threads. I just bought a Montana which has Marathon tires and it goes in this week for BFG's.

RE: Stupid Question

Way back in the day, one of my high school friends and his parents lived full time in an Airstream TT. We were army brats so in a way it made sense. The army back then was different then the army today, we moved every 2-3 years. So it has been done, you just have to ask yourself can you do it.

RE: recliner's

LOL, we looked long and hard for a toy hauler with the comforts of a regular 5th wheel. Some have recliners, but in the garage. If you are only gonna haul 1 bike or 1 atv then Open Range has a regular 5th wheel with a small garage on the back. Most regular toy haulers the living area is too small for a recliner as it would be in the way. We were going to try and get one of the toy haulers with the larger sliding glass doors between the garage and living area and put the recliners in the doorway. Also on most toy haulers the TV is in an ackward place too. In the end we opted for the comfort of a 5th wheel and just bought a Montana with 2 recliners and still leave the bike at home :<(

RE: 50amp to 30amp Dogbone question

I agree check Walmart..just got one for $14 and it is actually pretty nice and appears to be fairly sturdy. The Walmart RV section is small but they do have some of the more used items and is usually alot cheaper then CW. Also got one of the roof vent insulation pillows for $9. If Walmart don't got it then we head for the internet or CW.

RE: TT v fifth wheel

LOL LOL Just because I said my 5th wheel runs down the road better on windy days does not mean to go out and drive it in gale force winds lol... Just here in Texas it is windy all the time. I am more comfortable in my 5th wheel then I ever was with a TT. There are days where I would not venture out if I did not have to with the TT when it would not bother me with the 5er. As a matter of reference I know I have taken trailers where few would venture. As a Verizon tech I have towed fiber trailers and pole trailer in weather that many have not done so in. This I know because we had go on days that the Governor ordered people off the hwys. So I was out there towing trailers when most normal people would be hunkered down in there homes. So do not blame the operator in this case.....
