RE: Recommendations - RV Communities

You should look at The Great Outdoors in Titusville FL.
Cliff
I agree this is a must see before deciding.

RE: Southern Louisiana to San Antonio or Austin

A couple of years ago we jogged north in Beaumont to 90 and took that to 290 to Austin. I would do it again to bypass Houston.

RE: Tankless hot water heaters

When our son picked up new 2012 Wildcat I was impressed with the tankless water heater. After a one month trip with it he and I came to realize that these units are NOT A GOOD THING for RVing.
1. they do not have hot water untill you run it for a while
2. they waste too much water -- not what you want when dry camping
3. you have to empty the grey tank more often
4. you cannot use the electric hookup to heat the water when at full service
He is thinking about having it replaced with a 10 gal electric/dsi gas unit like I have in our unit. I have not run out of hot water in our 10 gal dsi/ electric in our 5er (even after two full showers). I would not buy a unit with the tankless water heater unless they replaced it with a 10 gal electric/dsi unit.
That my/our experience.
This is my experience also.....I do not like it at all.....and when the thermisters fail you have no electric backup.....don't waste your money.

RE: Tankless H2O heater

Are you sure you want tankless?....I do not like mine at all....Uses more water when dry camping, have to run the pump to keep heater running if water pressure is low, no electric back up if gas will not work, hard to regulate temp, cannot have low flow of warm water as heater shuts off if you try.
And for all that, you pay extra.

RE: SHOWER SKYLITE

Home Depot sell plastic paint....buy some off white and paint the whole skylight.....It greatly reduces the heat buildup and allows some light to come through...I used two coats.

RE: Thousand Trails, Florence Oregon @@@@@

It's a clubwide practice...These are membership parks and they want to control the mumber of vehicles in park and people using pool and other facilities....and to keep the curious public from wandering around..
It's also a security thing.
I see nothing wrong here.

RE: Covering the bathroom skylight to keep heat out (long)

Get a can of white plastic paint at Home Depot and paint the outside of the skylight...White reflects the sun and lets some light through...I have done this on 3 rigs and it is a great solution.

RE: Tiffin Prices (positive)

Two possibilities: Tiffin has lower warranty costs as they do a huge amount of it at their factory instead of paying dealers....Also they are located in a lower cost area.

RE: Satellite 129 Dish Network

UPDATE
Finally got it solved.
Called Winegard and tech told me to change dip switches for eastern arc. When I did this I could not pick up 119 to run check switch.
I called Winegard again and a different tech said I need to use Hybrid setting, dip switches 1,5 and 6 up.....She said she was going to yell at the tech who told me to use eastern arc and guaranteed me that Hybrid would work....It did.

RE: Purchasing from Lazy Days RV in FL.

They sell 5000 units a year....so you are bound to get some who are not happy.
We bought there and found them to be very professional and efficient. After some extended haggling, they met my purchase conditions.
It was a great experience and I would not hesitate to recommend them.

Satellite 129 Dish Network

I have a new Winegard in motion Dish...I cannot acquire Satellite 129...others here next to me (central PA) with Dish have acquired 129...110 and 119 are OK
I have tried installation procedure several times with same result: I get error message saying to use recall button to go to last viewed channel. Check Switch is OK
Any suggestions appreciated as I am new to this. Thanks
