RE: Advice on Driving S on I-5 in early Dec, Vancouver to Tucson

CA-AZ have closed most rest areas, the truck stops are brim full of trucks, so be prepared to stay at private "KOA" and such. The light at the end is The BLM campgrounds.

RE: Testing Tire Pressure

I installed TST 3 years ago, They replaced monitors that false alarmed, what a pain. The TST's have been flawless. I bought new tires and installed the monitors. I go by the tire chart "70lbs" (19.5 tires) on the MH wall. I inflated the tires cold about 50 deg. The tires loose 2-3 lbs year. I add air in the spring. The max pressure for these tires is 110 lbs. Some people air the max pressure, not me, they ride rough and do nothing for tire life, max pressure in a cold tire is asking for trouble, my opinion.

RE: Too Old ?

I am 74, I'm more conservative, "cautious" than when I was younger. I drive the posted truck speed mostly. I don't drive nights and stop more for rest. I am of the opinion that I'm good for maybe 6 more years.

RE: Left Turn on a Red Light

You can make right turns on red, but if there are cameras you will get a ticket if you don't wait the 3 seconds before moving! Most of the revenue comes from the right hand turn rules, good money maker!

RE: aluminum v. steel wheels

As a rule, people don't switch to aluminum to improve "ride" Have you had the tires checked for runout? A tire shop will know how much runout is normal. Switching to aluminum will cost you a bundle, if your switching for looks, that's cool, but for a better ride your going to be disappointed.

RE: 1984 Winnebago Elandan 31' P30 454ci

I have a 83 with 454 engine. Mine is set up to meet CA codes. It has a carburetor, also an air pump that injects air into the exhaust manifolds, that's what causes the manifolds to crack, the air mixes with the unburned exhaust gasses resulting in red hot temperatures. They should have used stainless steal manifolds, but they didn't.
