RE: Selling RV

I haven't used them BUT had a buddy who wanted to sell a 5th Wheel Toy Hauler. He talked to a similar place who offered to buy His rig for less than 1/2 of what he eventually got by advertising it Himself!
I guess the bottom line is How Much Money do You Need to get to let it go?

RE: Water heater issues....

You need to adjust the Sliding Burner Tube which controls the Air Flow. There is one screw that You loosten then Gently move the tube until The Flame turns Blue and the Noise dies down slightly. It Shouldn't sound like a Jet Engine nor should there be any Black Smoke!

RE: Planning on staying in Mexico for 18 months vice 6

Lew,
Since Your Moho has the Ten Year Permit on it leaving it at LDT while You Drive the Toad up to the US Border would seem to be a doable way of handling the situation. You only need to renew the 180 Day permit on the Car and of course obtain a New Tourist card for Yourself.
You could stay in Nogales for a few Days. Your ICBC Renewal can be obtained via Phone or Internet and is Money in the Bank while Out of B.C. and as earler comments indicate You can only get Mexican Insurance if You are currently insured at Home.
ICBC will Deliver the Tags to You wherever You can receive Mail. I would make an arrangement at a Hotel in Nogales to expect mail for You, or make friends with someone who has a place somewhere in Arizona.
I think that Barb and Sal at Hacienda Contreras might be able to offer some advice re what to do as They travel back and forth to the USA from their Home in Mexico. There are also several Canadian Ex Pats that have Homes near Lake Chapala who would know the routine!

RE: Panama Canal

As Stated above there are two Bridges across the Canal as well as service crossings at the Locks which are usable only at certain times.
If You are planning to drive through to South America it is tha Darien Gap that presents the problem not the Canal. Look it up "Darien Gap" on Google!

RE: Lube on Lug Studs

Never Use Lube or Anti Sieze Compounds on Lug Nuts! If They are rusty Wire Brush before Removal, If they are so bad that they are siezed replace them with New Lugs!
Using any type of lubricant will likely cause the threads to distort if over tightened.

RE: Local AZ study about going to Nogales!

For those of Us who slip over to Los Algodones for Glasses and Pharmacy prescription drugs once or twice a Year. The Return line Up isn't too bad IF You time it right.
We waited about 10 Minutes in April and perhaps 30 last December.
The Key when getting Glasses is to come back the next day rather than waiting the Hour or Two for them to be made up! Go across Early ,have the Eye Exam and Select the Frames...Head back to Yuma. Return Early the Next Morning to pick them up!
Same with the Drugs get over Early ..Know what You are buying and head back North.
What seems to cause the Long Lines is People who hang around until 11 AM to Buy Booze! These folks are the majority in the Line up!

RE: Good Sam Roadside or CAA+

We had AAA (BCAA) for many Years before switching to Good Sam.
When I called AAA for Help in California I was told that They could Not Handle a Large Motorhome and I would have to Call a Commercial Towing Company for Help!
When I got back to BC and contacted BCAA to complain I was treated with respect and issued a Cheque to cover My Out of Pocket Towing Expenses.
The only reason that I switched to Good Sam was because They offer coverage in Mexico as well as the USA and Canada! BCAA don't offer coverage in Mexico.

RE: Choose Drain Option

Unless You are using a Macerator a regular Garden Hose should only be used to rinse out the various "Stinky Slinky" Components. Not used as a Drain.
That said I have seen People using Short lengths of Hose in some "Dry Camping" situations to empty their Grey Tanks into a "Blue Boy" or a Bucket to transport the liquid to a disposal site. Usually They had a Sewer Cap with a Hose adaptor, also sold at CW Etc.
