RE: Got leftovers? Make a quiche!

For our annual Mothers Day Brunch at the Beach, a friend made a carmelized onion and bacon quiche - quite tasty (a little salty for me, but I think bacon is salty). She also made one with spinach, carmelized onion, mushroom and artichoke that is my absolute fave!! Thanks Cori :)

RE: for diebetic and/or weight lose wishers

Forget you all...I'm waiting for the Sugar Free Slurpees to come out nationwide :) ahhh...you joke, but there is such a thing!! They sell them at schools - since schools here in Calif have gone sugar free. You can buy the mix online (although I worked for this company several years ago and don't like the owner) at http://www.slushee-usa.com/prod.html

RE: Just for fun, boxer's morning ritual

I love my boxer! She is slowing down, hips hurt a little more each day, but she is still a silly girl.

RE: How would you handle this?

Just got a call from the boss today, it looks like we will be doing his route until further notice. He said he could not go into any detal, but be prepared to run his route for "the long haul". I asked him had they considered hiring a temporary guy to cover and he said they are looking into it, but again he wouldnt give me any details. I'm off until Monday so I guess I will see what happens between now and then. What do you make of that? It's part of the process, be patient. They are working it out.

RE: Mink

especially over a T-shirt and jeans. And a pair of 11 EEE heels is out of the question. :) The vision my brain came up with after that description was something like the Patrick Swayze character in To Wong Foo with Love, Julie Newmar... http://www.patrickswayze.net/Movies/wong14.jpg

RE: Shopping for a new car I like . I can't find one.

I know what I'd buy if I had a need........ A 2012 Chevrolet Camaro convertible. I don't need a new vehicle, would rather pay down the home mortgage first. ahh...my dream car!!

RE: Nu-Wave type oven

my families newest fave dish!! Taquitos made in the new wave oven!! I made both pork and chicken. I bought a pre-cooked chicken from Vons, shredded it and added verde sauce. The pork was cooked in the crock pot a few days ago (leftovers) with red salsa. I microwaved some corn tortillas wrapped in damp paper towels for 30 seconds to make them roll easier. Rolled some meat mixture, placed in oven and sprayed with olive oil Pam. Put on 460 for 12 minutes and voila! Outside is browned and crispy, inside hot and delicious!! Added some homemade guacamole for dipping, beans, rice and green salad.

RE: Need a winning smoked BBQ rib recipe...FAST!

talking about ribs always reminds me of the time my sister and I were in the grocery store and she wanted to make ribs for dinner. She asked if we wanted to join them, who am I to turn down yummy ribs, so of course accepted the invite. She then turned to the butcher, who had asked if he could help, and asked so innocently "Do you have a rack with more ribs on it, I need to feed 10 people". The butcher checked to make sure she was serious before explaining that God made pigs with the same amount of ribs on each one.

RE: How to break the ice with our CG neighbors?

What we do is leave our generator running all night, leave the doors of our truck open and blast rap music from our 5000w base boomer system, let our dog run wild and our kids smash their hard ball against the neighbors rig. We also like to burn our trash including plastic bottles in the fire ring and leave our scare lights on all night. We yell and swear a lot also. Hanging our underwear on a clothes line stretched across the front of our site also is an ice breaker along with idling our diesel for at least 30 minutes before pulling out to run and get more firecrackers. There are lots of ways to break the ice with your neighbors....:) Now YOU I would want to talk (yell, scream, rant, rave) to!! :W

RE: giving a pill to a difficult dog

We gave up on the liquid because she reacted so badly. Back to the drawing board. did you find the colorless, flavorless type off brand liquid benadryl? I think we used walgreens. My boxer will not take any pills either - she eats around whatever is hiding the pill. Our lab/spaniel would eat anything I gave her. Now, the boxer is allergic to benadryl, it does the exact opposite to her. We were recommended by the vet to give her benadryl on July 4th to calm her during fireworks. It flips her out (even before the fireworks begin) She runs around like a crazy dog. Dr said it was an intolerance.

RE: Homemade wine...cheap, easy and not too darn bad!

I am a wine drinker (cheap wine that is!) Is this fruit wines, ie. blackberry, cherry or is it made from grapes? I've never thought about making my own, but it is an interesting idea.

RE: run embroidery machine with a/c on??

Keep in mind that usually when you are sewing you also need to have a iron on and that would most likely be too much draw. I cannot run my sewing machine and iron off the same outlet. this is a first for me - why do you need an iron on when you sew?

RE: Arctic Cat WildCat

I love ours!!! Great Suspension and power steering = major fun!! I've heard not great in the sand for climbing big hills, but we don't go to glamis very often, so I don't have to worry about that. The stock tires suck monkey butt (if you buy one, have your dealer put different tires on it).

RE: Nu-Wave type oven

I just bought this: http://www.hsn.com/kitchen-dining/sharper-image-1300-watt-analog-style-super-wave-oven_p-6622713_xp.aspx I used it to make tater tots, figured I'd try something simple first. They were good, nice and crispy. Tonight I will make up some chile verde taquitos.

RE: How would you handle this?

Since HR has already asked for you not to have contact, I would delete the facebook friend and leave it at that. I am sure they already know about his FB page and monitor it regularly Sounds like they are already handling it from their end. I would guess they are building a workers comp fraud case against him. It would be best for you to keep a log of what you find at sites that should be his. If doing his route is hindering you from doing your route, I would make mention of this to supervisor. Mention that while you are willing to help out while someone is temporarily out, this looks like more of a permanent situation and they will need to hire someone to take his route. They most likely have to leave his job open in case he comes back, but they can hire someone temp until they get the situation resolved. my two cents...

RE: Blanket Reprimands

In my company, we just had to issue new employee dress code letters that included safety gear (electricians). It is stated in our employee handbook several times what they are to wear on all jobs, but we still have a couple of employees who think that because they are not seen by the owner regularly, they do not have to follow rules. The offending employees were spoken to. A day later, the superintendent went to another job and found a couple of other employees who were not wearing their safety equip. He was asked "Bob" doesn't wear safety glasses, why do I have to?". Blanket warning to all employees - you will all wear safety equipment, no excuses.
