RE: Jacks..up or down??

Ours are always up in storage. The jacks are to just level your rig during camping not to take the weight off the rig while in storage. I do wipe them down with cloth wet with ATF fluid before they're raise back up for travel.

RE: Why do I get "dues notices" in the mail all the time?

You use to have to keep your membership current to have Good Sam ERS.
You don't know junk mail until you own a business. Yellow pages and Internet listing that come looking like a bill for a listing that no one will ever read that can cost you $$$$ if you don't read the fine print. At least half dozen letters a day with tricky wording and yes I have a shredder that gets a work out.

RE: AAA vs. Good Sam roadside assistance

I dropped AAA about 10 years ago because it's hit and miss when traveling. We have up graded to the Good Sam ERS Platinum service plan since it covers all vehicle we drive and the the other benefits with this service. Go to the Good Sam web site and read over the three plans and go with the one that fits your needs.

RE: TOWING HUMMER

Just joined and ranting about something that happen last year. Story seems a little off since he make no mention of having a service bill for the installation done earlier. Then it sounds like he got into an argument with the service manager and it went down hill from there.

RE: Military Campgrounds

We've used them for years while active and now retired. Most are set up for RV's so you need to check if they have a tent camping area. I know two here in MI that have both RVs and tent camping. Some of the largest camp grounds are at Englin AFB, McDill AFB, Patrick AFB, Navel station Key West, and up at Destin, FL.

RE: Camping VS Hotels

May not always be cheaper but you know who's been sleeping in the bed before you, usually parks are quieter, you can fix your own meals, view is far better and it's make a great family vacation.

RE: Refrigerator temperature question

The temperature always goes up when you open the door and put food in, especially if it's not real cold or the goods put in are warm. Get one of those small battery fans. We have been using them for years, circulating the air inside the fresh food side helps to keep the temperature swings down some when you open and close the door.

RE: Michigan Body Repair

The Belleville Camping World store has an outstanding body shop. I personnel know the shop manager and seen their work. Kip's RV in Temperance, Michian does great repairs. He'd done several jobs for me.

RE: Florida or Texas vehicle tags

Tags can be done in FL by mail but your drivers license is another story. You need to have you birth certificate with raised seal, SS card, a rent receipt or power company bill, and marriage license in order to get a driver license new or renewed. Just went threw this with my mother who is 96 and been living in FL for 40 years. They have also went up on all there fees.

RE: Do I cancel AAA?

Go to the Good Sam website and look up ERS. There are three different coverages now with added benefits with the price. We have Platinum which covers any vehicle I or the DW drives including rentals and lease plus a lot more.

RE: Poop there it isn't

The only time I do not use the RV toilet at DW request and find a restroom is after sitting around a camp fire eating Chili and washing it down with good cold Buds. This kind of meal can also set off the LP detector.

RE: Good ol Camping World!

It's like any other big store. Some stores are way better than other in the chain. I won't even step inside the WalMarts in our area since I find the Meijers and K-Mart way more customer friendly. I buy my tires from were I get the service I want and the best deal. When they mention nitrogen in the tires I turn and walk right out.

RE: RV Extension Cord

It depends on where you camp at. I carry two 50',a 25' and 10' water hoses, A 15' Rhino sewer hose with a 10' extension, and two 50', and two 30' 30 AMP extension cords. Over the years I have at one time or another had used use every bit of water hose, power cord, and sewer. It's good to have it when you need it.

RE: Will GS ERS TOW 5TH WHEEL TO CAMPROUND

It's a good idea to have a TL Campground book with you. If you break down you can locate a campground in the area you're in quickly. Most tow truck drives do not know where most of the campgrounds are in the area.
When friends truck broke down they remembered a fair ground in the area. They were towed to the fair grounds were the TT was parked in a camping area and the truck towed in. The fair grounds never charged them for 2 days they stayed.

RE: Flat tire

My 2004 Bounder has a space tire in a carrier built in to the back of the coach and my last coach a Southwind also had a compartment for the spare. I've had flats with Good Sam coverage with the people coming out and pulling the spare tire out and putting it on the rig. Never cost me a dime out of pocket. If you stop to think I would not want an RV tire that goes flat on the road repaired until it can be inspected properly since in most cases it will have cord/side wall damage.

RE: Cheap way to meter electrical usage? Or just guess?

You about right if you run two A/C a day if it's hot out and the rest of your coach should be $9-$10 per day usage.
