RE: Help me find a chair base hold-down, please

I once held an object in place on the floor by drilling a clearance hole in the floor (after checking below to be sure there were no wires, pipes, etc.)and installing a couple of 3/8" "T nuts" under the floor. Then using a couple of moulded plastic knobs with 3/8" threaded bolts and steel pipe clamps. They were secure, quick & easy to use.

RE: Cleaning your CPAP mask

Another sanitizing method I have heard of people using is hydrogen peroxide and distilled water soak, rinse, air dry. Have not tried it but I guess it should work.

RE: Rear Anti Sway Bar for Chevy

I noticed quite a pleasant improvement in my '06 dually with the 1161 Lance after I installed a Hellwig rear bar. There was much less roll when cornering with the TC loaded.

RE: 2001-2007 Chev Dmax issue

I don't think all 4X4's had the problem. I know my '05 D/A 4X4 with 153,ooo miles has not! Perhaps the way they were driven or bounced around may have been part of the problem.

RE: Cleaning your CPAP mask

About two weeks w/ water and vinegar, thoroughly rinse and air dry. Keep filter clean and always use distilled water.

RE: Dually swingout bracket extensions

While that may be true, the brackets were painted, the aluminum was anodized and painted and the components must have not known that because after 5 years of service, they showed no sign on corrosion or failure. Just as the aluminium siding of the camper showed no sign of corosion even though the screws holding it on were steel, not aluminium or stainless.

RE: Water system and bleach?

I have been told that instead of using bleach, it s better to sanitize with FOOD GRADE 35% Hydrogen Peroxide. I would suggest that you do a search about it and you may find some interesting info.

RE: Dually swingout bracket extensions

I had the swing out brackets and wanted more clearance between the dually fenders. I simply got two 14 inch long pieces of square aluminum tubing that was 2"x2"X1/4" and installed them between the bracket parts with longer bolts as spacers. The extra space gave me lots of "wiggle room"when loading.

RE: Has anyone had this happened to them?

Just a little FYI, for the '99 and newer GM trucks, there is a little part that sells for about $2 available from the stealership that will DETER tailgate theft. It uses one bolt of the tailgate hinge bracket to prevent lifting the tailgate out of the passenger side socket.

RE: Table and chairs

Our Luxor has a table & two swivel chairs mounted on the floor. We have two folding chairs that may be used as needed with the extension that pulls out from the table. Just nice for two and we sort of like it that way when traveling!

RE: Electric polisher vs. hand

Porter Cable makes a nice orbital polisher that is not too heavy and does a great job. I have an old professional "GEM" orbital polisher that weighs 14 pounda. That is a great polisher but it is a real workout to use it on horizontal surfaces like MH sides! The Porter Cable is light and easier to use for long periods.

RE: response from Florida State Parks

That may well be true- but really, how much time is consumed and trouble is it to write a short note saying the job is filled, delete the addresses of those selected for positions, and reply to the others. It isn't like sending rejection letters by snail mail.

RE: Chevy 2500HD Diesel with camper and pulling a bass boat??

It is all about the weight of the camper and boat you choose and how safe you feel with the tires and other suspension parts of the that truck. I had a Lance 915 on an '05 extended cab 2500HD diesel long bed truck with 19.5 steel wheels and Michelin tires. My opinion was that using those wheels and tires made the truck very slow taking off and required more pedal pressure to stop it. The fuel economy dropped a few mpg even without the camper on. The total ride was not as good. I just bought a 3500 dually and was never sorry.

RE: misc storage ideas

Nice Job! You have inspired me to do better with my "stuff". Those horizontal shovel/tube type objects holders are nice. The shelf bins for bottles are much nicer than my solution using plastic storage boxes that have to sit on the floor. There is only so much floor to use!

RE: first trip with 19.5's and front mount rack

Three cheers for the Power Tank idea! I use a diving "pony bottle" for the same purpose, instead of a compressor. In the garage, a full size dive tank lasts for ages just topping of tires & bikes.

RE: Tailgate removal and storage

How did a tailgate removal post turn into a fuel economy post?
When I had my Lance 1161 on the dually, I solved the tailgate problem with a Harbor Freight hand truck. The tailgate was stored on it's end. I placed a piece of carpet on the hand truck to protect the end of the tailgate. The inside surface was sprayed with liner material so it needed no protection. A bungee cord around the top held the tailgate to the hand truck. Quick, effective, easy, and inexpensive!!
