RE: dmax fuel economy problem

Air filters aren't expensive and they can seal over making air pass thru a lot harder and decreasing mileage.

RE: Your Rig

" It is SOmuch more relaxing and enjoyable to tow a 5th. wheel with a diesel." Yes IT IS!!! This is what my father keeps telling me. I just need to get the hitch and wiring put in and I'm ready to go find out!

RE: Tips to make the pull out couch more comfortable to sleep on

We added the foam and also some more springs. In my opinion, there are only about half the right amount of springs on there from the factory. I found a few at a local hardware store but I think I still new about half a dozen more. I not in much of a hurry tho, I like having the camper all to ourselves.

RE: Wiring Problem

I did a little more research and after calling Hopkins Manuacturing to double check I found a four flat plug that plugs into the taillights and basically bypassing the factory system for trailer lights. (the actory system seems to have some problems) I can hard wire that into a seven round along with the constant hot and the brake feed. And, on another note, our favorite rv dealer, Ketelsen RV has graciously rounded up a decent set of used bed rails and install kit for my truck totally free of charge. They are the greatest.

RE: The new home away from home...

I had marathons that all turned to garbage within a 12 month times span. Even the spare that had never touched the ground. Only one left hanging on the back of the rv now and it will be changed before we go anywhere in the spring.

RE: Mor/ryde pin box

Ordered one for my parents last year and they said its great. Not hard to install either. We just mounted it into the truck hitch and backed right up to the camper and started slapping the bolts in.

RE: Is this covered under warranty??

Hey, we have that same bridge in Iowa City! There used to be a bar in town that was English themed and even had a double decker bus that gave patrons ride back home. Well, they had more than one because of that bridge. Chops 'me right off like in that James Bond movie. Now there's huge yellow bars with chains suspended to the maximum height because all the signs in the world won't stop some people.

RE: Wiring Problem

Yes that is the color combination that I have. I am still puzzled why there is three ground wires, two tail wires, two left and two right turns all in this harness that should go to the 10 pin connector. (none of these have anything to do with the lights on the truck box.) also, I can't get any power thru the right turn at all. Is there any other connections from the back to the front? Honestly I never thought I would have these kinds of problems with trailer wiring. Heck, I used to install truck accessories for a living. That was long ago, a little to long I guess. I have forgotten anything there ever was to remember.

RE: Wiring Problem

thank you tkcrawford. That is what i need. Unfortunately the colors on my truck are different. The ten pin is gone and apparently the right turn wire is shorted out somewhere. I hooked everything up that I could and plugged into a utility trailer and all the lights on the left side were very bright and all the right side were dimmer. none of the turns worked. Even if I tried jumping off the turn in the box tail lamp it wouldn't work. Probably too much draw for the computer in the truck. After checking all the fuses I will ask if there is a relay that could go out, (relays usually don't go bad but...) or something else I should look for.

RE: Wiring Problem

Yes I have a wiring diagram. My biggest problem is trying to find out where all the wiring that was left hanging in there goes. everything has such small guage wire that its not clear to me how they can all can the proper amount of power.

Wiring Problem

I spoke earlier about a 2003 Dodge truck 3500 that I got recently and today I tried to install 7 pole round outlet on the back. It had a 6 pole round on it from the previous owner. Apparently someone tried to get by on the cheap and because of that they cut off the accessory plug under the bed and hard wired it to the 6 pole plug. I guess I would like to find out what like wires went where in the factory plug that is now missing.I dont seem to have any rt turn signals for the trailer and in just backing up close to a trailer and hooking the wires we still dont have any trailer lights at all.My thought is more than one wire make up the amperage for each function. Does anyone have any idea what wires would go to the same locations? There are roughly 12 wires in the loom and obviously I only need the six that go to the trailer.

RE: Near LPG Disaster in Fiver

How do you think LP gas gets into a fridge or stove that's in a slide out if not for a rubber or other type flexible hose. Did the 5er have these appliances in a slide out ?

RE: would like to know - Pro Series Hitch

I have a pro series 15k hitch. No complaints. Bought it thru Craigslist for 125.00. Already had the hitch rails. It has the slide over locking pin instead of the dual locking jaws. I suppose it may have a little more king pin movement than the jaws but I don't have to worry about it coming unhooked once the slide is closed. Just lock the handle and forget about it.

RE: NEED HELP,please help me this weekend.

I really like the L shaped sofas. I'm sure they would order you one. I busyied myself with talking business so I would stay away from the quad cities today. Next weekend.... Well we will see.

Ketelsens in Cedar Rapids is having a show next weekend as well. Pancake breakfast in the morning to benefit Camp Courageous and a potluck in the evening as part of their camping club. Oh, and they sell Montana's too.

RE: Just bought a Dodge

I like your post Mr. Schomer. I did notice a wind leak around the drivers door when I drove it home. Probably not something that warranty would ever touch now. It has a Banks exhaust with muffler on it already but for some reason it ends right behind the muffler. I suppose someone tried experimenting to gain mileage or hp. Looks like a 3 inch pipe.

RE: Just bought a Dodge

I didn't think the size would be an issue but it does seem a little different from driving my parents CC dually. Same size though really. Since the snow has blown in and looks to be here for a while, I can just leave it in the shed and look at it when the weather gets a little warmer. Has the auto engage switch and motor for the four wheel drive seen its share of problems? The reason I would ask is that it looks to has just highway miles on it so the 4x4 wouldn't have been used much and sometimes that leads to problems later.

RE: Just bought a Dodge

Another note is all six tires are new too. I'll look underneath and make sure the ball joints aren't going bad as to ruin the new rubber. I figured on servicing the tranny too. I don't care what some salesmen say, I don't believe when they say they go over everything.
