RE: Sorry state of fuel in North America

the problem with gas is them putting ethanol in it, which attracts moisture and encourages rust in the fuel system, all in the name of tree-hugging "clean burn" fuel which is nonsense. The problem with diesel is that ULSD fuel has taken away too much of the sulfur content which is what helps lube the system. Also in the name of lower emission BS. Now you new truck guys also get to deal with the DEF additives in your fuel, as if paying for diesel wasn't expensive enough. This is what we get with lobbyists and the politicians who pander to their interests. But hey- i still love the USA

RE: HELP! What kind of vent lid do I have?

take pic with you, or remove lid and go to an rv store for them to match it up. If you remove the inside trim ring it may be stamped on there what manufacturer it is. If you have the extra money, invest in Maxx Air vent covers

RE: had enough

if Dometic did you slide the thermistor switch that sits on the cooling fins at rear of fridge? It's adjustable for temp, and also inside the fridge lip up front there is another rocker switch that removes condensation/moisture, used for high humidity days. Never had a problem with mine.

RE: Removing unknown sealant from EPDM roof

it's probably silicone or latex caulk which isn't compatible with EPDM roofs. Alot of work to remove without tearing up the EPDM rubber, I'd just eternabond the bad areas, or buy the thick eternabond (4") and cut it in half. If you ever need to replace your roof you wouldn't have to remove it anyway, it will just come off with the roof membrane.

RE: I need some RV windows!! help

looks like I'll be going to the glass shop. They can tint and temper the windows and i can install in the frames myself. They are just held in place by silicone and just sit in the frame with rubber weatherstrip on top of that, so it's easy, no taking apart of frames or cutting or drilling. Called around and all shops have to do a template for size and then send out for tint/temper, then when it comes in they will call me, about 2-3 weeks to get all done. It was already a 3 week lead time to have the whole thing replaced with new, so I'm better off and cheaper with glass shop anyway. My smallest window at 12x34 was $239 for a whole new one. Ouch.

RE: Bedroom Slide Won't Open

possibly wiring at wall switch is disconnected from vibration, or bad switch. Remove switch and look for disconnected or melted wiring

I need some RV windows!! help

I bought a KZ Spree from an insurance auction and it has 4 busted windows, all are different sizes. It's a 2010 model and I cannot seem to find the windows for it. Tried ebay and some other sites like All-rite (way too expensive). They are all tinted windows. Any ideas on reasonably priced sources? All-rite wanted 800 bucks for the rear one alone which is a 61" picture window. Surely they can be had much cheaper than this. I've replaced a few in the past and know they are easy to install. Not sure if most glass places can do rv windows but may have to go that route...

RE: Digital vs analog TV

I watched tv for 2-3 hours with just a small inverter running off my trailer battery while my wife and kids shopped. Let down the couch, closed the blinds, and hung out in the parking lot. 19 watts was all the tv took, a 19" lcd hdtv. Give up the old timey tv and go HD.

RE: Desperatly need help with slide out issue

remove the slide switch and look for burn marks or signs of overheating/melted wires from shorting out. I suspect your switch is overheating

RE: Lazydays sales

yeah. A few minutes of standing outside ANY business with a large cardboard sign stating your issue will get them moving in a hurry to appease your concerns

RE: Floor rot at door, anyone been through it?

Yep, first step is find out what caused the damage and fix that first. Then use a sawzall or circular saw to cut out bad section. Install some new wood supports underneath and use 90 degree angle brackets to make them stronger. Then cut and install the replacement floor piece, preferably exterior grade plywood. Finish the job with new floor covering like sheet vinyl or planks

RE: Generator Removal

why would you remove it....just drive the rv in to the shop. Or get a set of stud removers off ebay for $30 and then buy a new plug

RE: Shower Faucet de-install ??

yep, there should be a white access panel in the wall behind your shower with 4 screws in it. Remove it to access the plumbing to your shower. If there isn't a panel you will need to use a hand saw or dremel to cut a square opening large enough to get your hands inside and then buy a cover to put over it.

RE: Waste odor while driving

cyclone might work but I spent alot less by just replacing my roof vents with a pvc tee from a local home store

RE: Need help/advice on 5th wheel setup for GMC Topkick

Is 63" too high for pulling the cyclone. I don't have it yet so can't check. Most 5th wheel connection will also keep me within 4" of this height. no way to know without seeing it hooked up to your rig, every trailer is different. Don't know about your hitch but mine is height adjustable somewhat, it has 3 sets of bolt holes to move it up or down.

RE: Awning

no fastening needed, they snap over the rolled awning without any modification. Water doesn't come inside either, you turn the gutter open side down and snap it over the awning. I just remove them before a trip and store them in my garage

RE: Molding damage

color match it at a paint store if they don't have it at rv dealer. you don't want to buy it online, shipping will kill you being oversize
