RE: Emergency Tow truck options with 5th wheel

We use CAA (AAA). They have an RV plan. Only had to use it once, but everything worked ot well. When our previous truck broke down on the bridge at a Canada US border crossing we had to get a local tow truck operator to tow the truck on a flatbed, and a second truck for the fiver. I paid up front on my credit card (around $300)and submitted the reciept to CAA. Got a full refund for my towing costs no problem.
I don't think that AAA does that here in the USA.

RE: How far will you travel when fuel hits...

We cancelled camping in N.C. and will drive car and stay in hotel. Hard to believe that this is actually cheaper than driving truck and fiver, but it is. I will not pay over $800 in gas just to get there and back.

RE: Mfg's. That Will Not Talk To Customers

I wouldn't buy any RV without first visiting the factory where they are built.
Of course, that doesn't help with components like toilets or leveling jacks.
Or televisions (and the wall mounts), or the microwave, or the refrigerator, or the jack knife sofa, or the swivel chairs, or the frame the trailer rides on, or the tires, or the hitch, or the converter, or the air conditioner or furnace, or the ventilation fans, or the slide out mechanism, or the steps, or the awning to name a few.....

RE: Looking at a new Sabre tomorrow!

At over a whopping 38' in length I would expect it would be nice. Although it appears to only be able to sleep 4 people(and two out of the four being on the couch). Can't imagine trying to back that thing into a site however.

RE: We still plan on buying a Cameo how about you?

Through the end of the week, maybe? They (Carriage) are expecting some good news this week. Many, including myself as a Cameo owner, are very much hoping that will be the case. Phillip
I figured I would wait until the end of the weak. If no resolution is found,I will have to officially cancel my order
If no resolution, THEY will cancel your order for you. You won't have to lift a finger

RE: Rats. Unemployed again.

Crowe should stop whining and RV herself out to San Francisco where they are hiring protestors at $11 per hour. Bring your own TP.
I just have to go to Boston to do that!
CEKKK, if flipping burgers means keeping a roof over your head or feeding your family you'll do it. The survival instinct takes over at some point.
The other day one of our local TV stations ran a story on the DC protestors, and the one they interviewed made a big fuss about there being no jobs available. I had to chuckle when the very next story was about the tough illegal immigrant laws in AL and GA that have chased off the farm field workers, and the farmers can't find enough legal people that are willing and able to do the work. :h
The truth is that the farmers can't find enough "legal" workers willing and able to do the work for the $2 hour they've been paying the illegals. That's what they're whining about.

RE: Who has used (or heard about).. "N-Hance" cabinet renewal ?

At that price, wouldn't it be cheaper to just replace the cabinets altogether ?

RE: Warning on Toyota Tacoma service (long)

...It does use synthetic oil. The service included oil, filter, lube, plugs, transfer case fluid change front and rear, rotate and balance tires, drive belts, silicone CV boots, clean throttle body, BG battery service, replace PCV valve, replace air and cabin filters, lubricate propeller shaft and re-torque bolts, inspect and tighten about every conceivable part of the vehicle including radiator core and condensor, nuts, bolts, belts, etc. I'll admit it feels like a brand new truck now and despite the labor involved it was definitely a hosing.
Our local mechanic gets it from now on.
I don't know but that's a lot of service. I mean replacing the CV Boots is probably a couple hundred right there with the labor. And how long did it take them to re-torque all the bolts ? Given the list of all that was done at today's labor rates, I don't think you got ripped off as bad as you think you did.

RE: Cable TV in a KZ Escalade

Could also be that the cable outlet box your hooking into is not hardwired. In other words the factory did not hook up the coax to the box. I've heard others on here have that same issue. If you can get to the box, unscrew it from the wall and see if the coax is attached to the fitting on the backside of the wall plate.

RE: Prices in Canada are INSANE!

From what I have observed, namely Canadians being able to live down here for months at a time, the high end Class A's or new trucks and big fivers, they all must have had some big paying jobs to afford their lifestyles.

RE: Jacking Proceedure

Lippert says it's ok to jack on the "U" bolts on the axle. This is the strongest part.
I'm not surprised that Lippert would recommend axle....even they don't believe their frame is strong enough.....:E :E

RE: Very encouraging as unemployment is already below 9%

Travelnutz, I fail to see how people making 1/2 to 2/3 of their former salaries and with far less benefits is good news ? Here in New York, our governor just announced that 10,000 state workers are getting the ax. More good news ? When the mass media announced with great fanfare that McDonald's was hiring thousands of people a few weeks ago and that was a "sign" that the recession was over - well that really says alot now doesn't it. And by the way, McDonald's hires thousands every year. So this was nothing new. No one can support a family on minimum wage a free french fries despite what the main stream media wants us to believe.

RE: Affinity downsizes, puts HQ up for sale

Maybe we should look at having a backup plan in case this site folds ? There's no way we'd ever find each other if some morning one trys to log on and you get the "RV.net not found" error message.

RE: RV or motel?

Like others have said, your trying to make time on the highway and you will no question make better time not towing. Also, how far off the highway will you have to drive to get to the campground in the afternoon and the return drive in the morning. Also how much time will need to set up and tear down each day ? If you search the internet you can find a decent hotel at a decent price - some even have free breakfasts too.

I thought Lauren was actually relieved when she lost. She'll probably (like many other 2nd place winners) find that not winning was the best thing to happen.

RE: Our plans and weekend are trashed

Ask them how much more than the $51 grand you just spent at their dealership it would of taken for them to live up to their word. Me, I would of told them "deal's off, I'll spend my $$ somewhere else".
