RE: Generator Leaking Oil

If it is leaking oil when in storage, look for either a bad/loose drain plug or a crack in the oil sump.

RE: Onan generator shuts off after 25 min of running

If that was my Onan, I would first change oil to a straight 30 wt SAE, if the problem kept on, change the ignition module as the capacitor in it is getting hot and quits working, if it is the the older points system, for sure replace the capacitor, and the points too would not hurt.

RE: Wow... tire prices. And 16 vs 18 ply?

Makes sense to me: Cheap RV, use cheap tires, High end RV, use High End tires.
Everyone does what they think is best for their money.
And opinions are worthless.

RE: Same money, older higher end coach or newer not as nice one

Yes, This is not a new issue, actually, I fully agree with Brett (wolfe10) about the Foretravel, seems everyone who finally gets into a used one, feels the same, meaning, They would rather have a 10 year old Foretravel than a brand new anything else. This is from folks who have been there & done that.

RE: Synthetic oil in an Onan QD 7500

Recommended lube oil is a good quality 15W-40 Like Shell Rotella, or any other quality oil. If you feel better using the synthetic, by all means do what makes you happy, it only costs a few bucks more. For me, it is a total waste of money, but everyone has an opinion for sure, why I recommend, Do what makes you the happiest.

RE: house batteries foretravel

Suggest you join us on www.foreforums.com there is many Foretravel owners there who can tell you all about your coach. I have a 2001 Foretravel 320, 36', but not sure if like yours.
Hope to see you there

RE: Tire Pressure Monitors

Have the Pressure Pro setup, between the leaking on some wheels, not all, and the need for a repeater to read even the rear of a 36" coach plus the toad, I find the setup is great WHEN it works, but in the end it is more of a hassel than an advantage for me.
I love some of the stories here, mainly the one where the rear inner tire deflated and wraped around the wheel, tearing up massive amounts of fiberglass etc. The fact is a tubeless tire just deflates and drops off the bead and runs cool and loose on the rim. It does not wrap up anything, only the old tube tires did that trick, they are not very popular today.

RE: Has anybody put on HWH Active air?

Somewhat familiar with the "Active Air by HWH", my brother has it on his Foretravel, loves it a lot. As for putting it on your coach, I think you will find the cost of a proper Active air setup would kill most bank accounts, there is a lot more to it than just adding air bags, there are large air tanks, large air lines, and very rapid valves that move a lot of air very quick.
If you want Active3 Air, sell your present unit and purchase a coach that already has it built in from the factory.
Me, I have a Foretravel with the solid front axle, do not want the Active Air, nor it complexity / cost.
Frankly my opinion, making the conversion on your present RV is some what like trying to make chrome out of pot metal.
Good luck

RE: Generac diesel generator 750 hour service.

The best part of that Generac Diesel 7.5 kw is the Perkins Engine, I had a Perkins 12.5 kw, ran it over 6,000 hrs, never did anything but change oil, oil filter, fuel filter and air filter and it never failed or complained, sold that coach and now have a new coach with the Kubota 4 cylinder, hope it is as good.

RE: Class A fuel economy for diesel pushers

For me, I have a 2001 Foretravel, ISM500, towing a F150 Ford p/u, I run 70-75 normal, I average 8.2 on last 1227 mile run, mpg is figured by the VMSpc that I find very accurate for many fill ups. Mostly on the cruise control, but I get better mileage on the foot pedal.
Have made a few changes to the engine, biggest was get rid of the muffler and installed a 5" resonator, picked up 2.5 psi additional turbo boost.

RE: Seems like no electricty reaching gen to start

Saying it wont start leaves a world of possibilities, Try to narrow it down a little, like does the solenoid click or buzz?
Maybe if you went to the generator and tried it there might be informative, hear anything like clicks, chattering smell smoke, see fire, or any clues at all ??

RE: point if rocks bridge

We also use that route from central Va, up US-15 into Md and then up to Gettysburg, we take US-30 East for the sprint car races at Lincoln Race Track every weekend we can. No on US-15, we try to use it off business hours as it can get hectic thru Leesburg area during working hours.
Headlights on and speed limit 45 Leesburg to the Bridge.
