RE: How to research the tiny city/county campgrounds

Your right, many city and county campgrounds are not listed with other public campgrounds. I search the specific local government web site and then parks an rec. they normally list phone numbers for reservation. Also, many counties out west will have RV spaces available thru the county fairs.

RE: Does the monitor panel show full battery while plugged in?

My batteries will show fully charged at all times when plugged in to shore power. Of course, they normally are. However, I do not use that panel to tell me anything about the batteries. I use a volt meter for that.

RE: Gray water tank/blk tank

At all times? If your black tank is clean, and not being used for awhile, I don't see any reason to keep water in it. IMHO

RE: Storing your RV?

.... I believe that the RV-type refrigerators run better and last longer if they are left on. Miles
Curious if this is your opinion or what?

RE: 5th Wheel Storage

I would develop an RV space with full hookups separate from the storage building. Having the ability to provide an RV space for relatives or visitors would be a nice addition to your new home. Separate from your RV storage.

RE: Can't pump fresh water tank dry - '02 Phaeton

I was told that on some rigs the line to the pump is located on the side, and not the bottom of the tank. My drain line is located on the side of the tank also. Dilution is how I deal with this.

RE: Ticks!

Yes, we have them out west also. We put Campho Phenic, a liquid on them and they pull out themselves out within minutes.

RE: 5th wheel pivot point?

My DW tells me I'm getting worse during the past 3 years instead of better backing into our driveway.
Well I'm sure that didn't help your confidence. :)

RE: Vegas to San Francisco Advice needed for Brit!

I think going up Tioga into the back side of Yosemite is a good plan. You can visit the valley and stay outside the park. I would also try and get north of SF for a couple days on hwy 101 and visit the humboldt redwoods.

RE: Going to Fulltime + not retired = many ????

Some people work camp to cover the cost of their RV space rent.

RE: Gray Water Question

Tent campers do it all the time. But once you start dumping a tank, it shouldn't be done on the ground surface at one location. The ground is a great filter for water, put it depends on the quantity applied at a specific location.

RE: Faded vinyl graphics - Bringing them back to life?

I read here that a product called black on black, or similar, worked well. Bought it, tried it, and did not notice any increased shine on my old 8-year old faded decals. My Maguires wax shines them as well as anything.

RE: Seasonal Site..Leave the fridge on or turn it off each time?

I would turn it off. I look at all the rigs utilities and they are meant to be turned on and off all the time.

For a 50 mile trip, I would fill at home. For all day trips, I would bring enough for the travel only.

Yeah, the loud pump doesn't bother me at all

RE: Black Water Tank Care

I noticed in our 2004 5er, the venting system worked so well that we didn't need any stuff at all like we used to in our older rig.

RE: Two questions about the water supply system

I turn my pump off when on city water. I would use a pressure regulator if the city water pressure seems high.

RE: Is 31 foot too long for small campgrounds?

The FS campgrounds in our neck of the woods were built years ago without many upgrades since. Most people used tents and small trailers. You will find sloped parking areas, short parking spaces, and the nice long spaces are out in the open without the preferred under storage plant life, generally speaking.

RE: Driving Question

Maybe you need another spot mirror so tht you have a better view of the right lane. Put the turn signal on to change lanes, and start to merge over.
Unless the driver to your right is the "typical clueless Californian" on their cell phone while drinking their Starbucks coffee...they'll get out of your way.
An additional side marker turn signal helps too.
Hey Ford, I wouldn't recommend merging blindly.
